Answer:	It will work up to 1/8000 sec as long as you are in High-speed sync mode. Just remember that the flash will work at a much reduced power level in that mode.

Answer:	Aloha Andrew, Don't know to what extent you mean 'USE', but I tried it on my friends 5D mrk i and it works perfect in ETTL and manual, I also tried the ST-E3 on camera (5D mrk i) and fired the 600ex rt off camera and that worked too. I think when Canon says it's built for the 1DX and 5D mrk iii, I believe they're talking about it's ability to work in conjunction with the camera's newer 61 point focusing systems. Hope that helps!

Answer:	Yes and no - Yes it works as traditional IR way, but that requires clear line of sight between two. You cannot use radio feature of 600ex-rt to trigger 430ex

Answer:	The Canon 600EX-RT speedlight is designed to work, wirelessly, with other 600EX-RT units (the "RT" stands for Radio Transmission), or with the Canon ST-E4; you no longer need 3rd party transceivers (such as the PW Plus III) to incorporate off-camera flash using radio transmission. Another company, YongNuo, has developed a shoe-mount transmitter (the YN-E3-RT) that is fully compatible with the 600EX-RT and also has an AF assist light, which the Canon ST-E4 doesn't even have. If you're still set on using your PW Plus III with your 600EX-RT, you can do so but you will only be able to use the flash in Manual Mode (not E-TTL), and you won't be able to change your flash settings remotely. This is fine if you're shooting in a controlled environment, such as a studio, where your lighting won't change but if you're looking to use off-camera flash outdoors and/or in changing lighting conditions, I'd highly recommend getting another 600EX-RT, which you can then use as a transceiver on-camera to fully control your off-camera one. If that's too expensive an option, get the Canon ST-E4 which also mounts onto your hot-shoe and gives you full control over your 600EX (or get the YongNuo version, which does the same thing but is a lot less expensive and also has the benefit of an AF assist beam for low-light focusing).

Answer:	I have both this flash and the 430EX, and I personally would not use this one for portraits unless I had no other option. It kind of depends on how you plan to use it? If you don't mind waiting or watching to make sure it is charged, then it would work fine. When I have done interior portraits I used a simple studio strobe setup and have used my 430EX in concert with these and it worked well, Recharge times on strobes are really pretty quick in comparison to either of these flashes, but the 430EX was fast enough for me. However, I have used my 270 EXII as a fill flash for outdoor portraits, and I was not satisfied. When I take portraits I like to try and capture the moment when a smile is good or when the look in the eye is just right or whatever and sometimes that requires taking the photos in quick succession. I had not been bothered or noticed any lag with the 270EXII prior to this so, when I recently wanted to get some outdoor portraits of my kids, I chose to bring it instead of the 430EX. I felt this was one of two mistakes I made that day. My second mistake was to not use fresh batteries and I found it very frustrating. Luckily I had new batteries, and I popped them in. This helped a lot, but I still found that when I used the 270EXII, I had to wait more than I would have liked, and I feel that I missed some shots and made everyone more frustrated because it took longer. I had several photos where I took the shot, but the flash was not recharged enough and did not fire (even with the new batteries). This was a learning experience for me and I will be bringing my 430EX in the future for this type of shooting. Always also have one or two sets of spare batteries as well.As for your question of having enough juice for a backlight strobe, I guess that would depend on your lighting scenario. I suspect that it would be fine for a highlight type of backlight. My 430EX definitely worked well in that scenario, but I have never tried the 270EXII. I am not as sure how well it would work for a backlight on the background. I have used the 430EX for that successfully, but seem to remember that it did not work as well as when I used the studio strobes (although I think some of that may have been more the light spread than the power). The 270EXII is even less configurable and powerful, so I would not do it unless I had no other option. if you are trying to decide on this or something like the 430, I would spend the extra money on the 430. If that is not an option and you want this flash for other reasons, than I suppose it would not hurt to try it as long as you understand the potential pitfalls.I hope this helps.

Answer:	Speed shooting wasn't a feature that I was looking for when I bought this, but I have tested it in single shot and high speed modes. My testing was done using "Default" settings, both camera and flash with Panasonic BK-3MCCA4BA Eneloop AA 2100 Cycle Ni-MH batteries. In single shot mode, the flash fired as quick as I could press the shutter button, I'm guessing less than 1/2 second between shots. In high speed (6fps), it drops the ninth frame just about every time, but picks up where it left off and it's just a one dark frame, i.e., no pause to recycle before it flashes again. I'm not sure how long it would keep this up. I stopped after 20 seconds or so. Reducing the power, to say 1/4, or using an external battery pack or power supply would probably help, but depending on your shooting conditions, that isn't always an option. I used an EOS 5D mark IV & EF 50mm f/1.8 lens with the flash zoom range set to 50mm. Canons specs vary too much for me and probably include an average recycle time of every scenario they could throw at it. I mean 0.3 - 5.5 seconds on high and 0.1 - 3.3 seconds on low? To me, that is too wide a range to get any real world info from.

The Speedlite EL-1’s flash head is designed for easy bounce flash, in any direction. The head can now be angled 120° up, 7° down and can rotate 180° left and right. A bounce lock with release button helps things stay in place. Additionally, the Speedlite EL-1 features a catchlight panel to create catchlights in the eyes of the subject for a more expressive look.
