Answer:	Yes it does! The optical zoom is 16X, full electronic zoom is 64X, and can be useful. Works when shooting HD video on this camera as well as when taking pictures. Do be advised though that you will have all the normal limitations imposed by using electronic zoom in any camera (no matter the price or quality!). These limitations are primarily the loss of resolution (64X zoom imposed onto a 16X optical lens means have an effective loss of resolution of roughly 16 times). The resulting image (at 64X zoom) has the "effective" resolution of a one megapixel camera, more or less! Second, it is very hard to hold the camera still enough for a good image with that much magnification. Works fine on a tripod, though. Hope this is helpful.

Answer:	Use NiMH rechargeable batteries and you'll solve this issue. While it would seem having an internal battery would be a better choice, it's really not for those of us who take a lot of pictures because then you have to plug the camera in for hours to recharge. With NiMH rechargeables, you can carry a half dozen extras in your pocket and have enough to cover any amount of video or pictures you want to take with this camera. Taking any significant amount of video on this camera would kill even a built in internal battery. The fact that you can use rechargeables on this camera is one of the better selling points in that it prolongs the amount of pictures and video you can take. For a total cost of $20-$25 you can get a charger as well as 8 batteries that will cover anything you need to do, and last for years.
