User questions & answers
Question: | How do you store this after opening? There is nothing recommended by the manufacturer |
Answer: | I got the Tamarind Paste Rai brand. 16.oz bottle and it says No fat low sodium on the jar. It is 4mg of sodium. Serving size is one TBSP and 30 servings. So not sure if that means 4mg of sodium per serving. Hopes that helps you. |
Question: | can you use it to make juice |
Answer: | The new version of the label does state it as non-gmo. Our old label did not (you can see the listing for new version of label). It has always been non gmo, but only recently did we put it in our marketing. |
Question: | Since it's a concentrate, do you have to add water (or some liquid) so the flavor isn't overpowering? If so, how much liquid per tsp |
Answer: | Thats what i bought this (Pad Thai) for and haven’t used it yet. Was making my own version of a Tamarind substitute that actually was’t bad but this jar makes it much easier. My recipe calls for 1/4 cup tamarind concentrate |
Question: | Since it's labeled "concentrate," does that mean you'd use less then regular tamarind paste? Or is all tamarind paste a concentrate |
Answer: | So long as your recipe is calling for wet tamarind (seedless is always preferred), country of origin should not matter. |
Product description
Tamarind concentrate is widely used to make several different chutneys. This is also mixed with variety of cooked dishes to create a tangy taste. Tamarind concentrate is a must use paste for choley,Sambhar,Rasam etc. Tamarind chutney goes great with dahi vadas.

Answer: | I am currently storing it in the refrigerator just to be safe! |

Question: | how long does it last once opened in the refrigerator |
Answer: | Yes, you do have to add water & sweetener! Taste is dependent on each person, I have no standard formula myself? |
Question: | I’m confused on the directions. I need one cup of tamarind juice for pad Thai, anyone know how many teaspoons for that |

Question: | I'm always suspicious of the word concentrate. Does it have anything else in it? Or did they mess with it |
Answer: | no there are not organic |
Question: | Is this product kosher |
Answer: | No |
Question: | How long does it last in the refrigerator |
Answer: | It is tamarind paste |
Question: | Is this product fda or usda inspected |
Answer: | I honestly do not know what the shelf life of Tamarind paste is as I generally go through it within 6 months. I live in Colorado and leave it on the shelf with the molasses which is about the same consistency, it seems to be fine. A quick Google search says that the stuff has pretty much an indefinite shelf life but I would imagine that is in a cool dry and dark place.Once you start using Tamicon Tamarind paste you will probably only need worry about getting another because it can be used in so many things. Enjoy |
