The NT-USB is a highly versatile side-address microphone that is ideal for recording singing and musical performances in addition to spoken applications such as podcasting and voice-over. It is fully compatible with all mainstream recording applications on both Windows and Mac OS based computers, as well as the Apple iPad using Rode Rec, Garage Band, or any other recording app that accepts an external microphone. Use on the Apple iPad requires a suitable USB connection adaptor, such as the Apple Camera Connection Kit. The body of the NT-USB features a zero-latency stereo headphone monitoring (3.5mm) jack, which allows you to monitor the microphone input in real-time, along with dials to adjust the monitoring level and mix between the computer/iPad audio and the microphone input. A premium pop-filter is included, which fits onto the base of the mic, positioning the filter the ideal distance from the capsule to minimize plosives (hard 'B', 'T' or 'P' sounds that produce a harsh sound) during singing or speech. Also provided is a high-quality stand mount with industry standard 3/8" thread, desktop tripod stand that allows the NT-USB to sit at a comfortable height on a tabletop, and a pouch for storage of the microphone when not in use. Compatible with both Windows and Mac computers, as well as the Apple iPad via the USB camera connection kit (available directly from Apple) Gain setting: When the gain is set too high, the microphone will be too sensitive and can pick up room noise that can even be heard as a hiss. When the gain is set too low, the microphone will be barely audible. Compatible with the SMR shockmount & WS2 foam windshield.

- High quality studio microphone with the convenience of USB connectivity
- Pop shield, Tripod desk stand, ring mount, storage pouch and 6m (20’) USB cable included

User questions & answers
Question: | Would these sound great as audience mics |
Answer: | Not as hand held. These are a mount and cover a stage type of mic. I love them to get my wife's choirs covered as they pick up everything. Hope this helps!Jeff |
Question: | can they be used for asmr making? Are they Binaural Microphone |
Answer: | These are not binaural microphones; however they could be use as part of a binaural rig if you have a dummy head or some other similar apparatus in which to mount them that would mimic the spacing and shape of human ears. |
Question: | I do not and have never had something to records with. If i were to buy these mics what else would I need to record. Like cables and equipment |
Answer: | To record with these mics, you would need two balanced XLR cables. You would also need some sort of pre-amp into which to plug them which is capable of supplying phantom power. You would also need a recording device. Many recording devices include preamps and phantom power so that you can run the XLR cable directly into the recorder. As a baseline for a quality recording device, consider something like the Zoom F4 or the Sound Devices MixPre3 or MixPre3M. Zoom also makes less expensive devices, but the preamps really lack in quality by comparison. |
Question: | How well would these work in video production |
Answer: | It would depend upon what you intend to shoot. The best uses for the microphones would include things such as choral or acoustic music in a controlled environment. If you intend to capture ambient or general sound such as machinery, ocean waves, dogs barking, cars driving by, these would be quite sufficient. If you intent to capture dialogue, I would suggest either a worn mic, a handheld mic (if you don't mind it being in the shot), or a shotgun mic (with or without a handheld boom). For the M5s to work well for dialogue, they would need to be so close to the speaker that they would necessarily be in the shot on a stand as these cannot be handheld without serious handling noise. You would need something much more directional to get decent sounding speech. These microphones arranged properly basically pick up the same sounds that our ears do in real space--but that doesn't always quite work for video. In real life, our brains do a fantastic trick of filtering out all of the background or unwanted sounds so that we can zero in on what we are trying to hear. Video confuses that process in our brains, so we have to take a different tact. We have to capture sound that actually isn't perfectly true to life, but makes it seem that way when we watch the video.I don't intend to be patronizing with this response; I just want you to get what you really want. |

User questions & answers
Question: | well this work for my animation for lip sync and a use the program audacity and widows 10 well it work |
Answer: | As a microphone and interface, it should work with any computer, digital audio software, and OS. Just be aware that it’s a condenser mic, and as such, very sensitive. That means if you don’t have a quiet room or sound proof booth, it will pick up outside ambient noises, many of which can be filtered out later with your DAW. However the kit is great, and the quality is top notch, and the price of the bundle is a huge cost savings. The only potential limitation is that it has a single mic/instrument input, which isn’t a big deal if you’re recording one track at a time. Even though it seems pricey, I’d recommend the road PSA1 articulating microphone arm. It works great in the inverted position, and the pop filter stays well anchored upside down. Also check out Reaper for your software! See my full length review on the product page for more details. |
Question: | Can I use this for my mobile phone |
Answer: | I think this is only compatible with MAC OS, and PC. The NT1 microphone could be purchased separately with the Rode iXLR to accomplish what you want here. |
Question: | I use apple headphones. how do i connect these to listen to my voice - is there an adapter i should buy - or what headphones should i get? thanks |
Answer: | Assuming the connector is 3.5mm, you would need a 3.5mm to 1/4” (6.3mm) adapter. The Rode interface will be able to power most easy to drive consumer and professional headphones for monitoring reasonably well. |
Question: | Can this product still be used if your computer does not have a usb c port? can i use a usb c to usb type b cable instead |
Answer: | The answer to your question is yes! The USB C connection is to the Rode interface, the other end of that connection goes to your computer and that can be the more common USB B connector. |

Rode NT1 1" Cardioid Condenser Microphone
The NT1 is a 1" diaphragm condenser microphone developed with a focus on detailed midrange response, coupled with silky smooth high frequencies, and warm, round, bass reproduction to make the NT1 an absolute standout. The transducer itself is suspended inside the microphone using Rycote’s Lyre system, minimizing external vibrations at the capsule level. The capsule is then married to high-grade electronics that have been designed to provide the lowest noise level possible. The NT1 is an incredibly quiet microphone, measuring only 4.5dBA of self-noise. Its body is machined from 6061 aluminum and then nickel plated for resistance against corrosion. Finally it is coated in a durable, military-grade ceramic layer, using advanced electrostatic application techniques developed by RØDE to ensure an extremely hard wearing finish that is resistant to scratches or marks.

Rode NTG2
The RØDE NTG2 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone, designed for professional applications within the film, video, television and production industries.
Its full frequency response, low noise and audio transparency make it an ideal film, video, and voice over microphone, while its low weight (161gm./5.7oz. without battery) makes it an ideal boom microphone.

User questions & answers
Question: | Hi I want to know if it works 100% and if it comes with shock mount? THANKS FOR YOU TIME |
Answer: | Yes and yes |
Question: | Can it use phantom power from focuserite? And all go into a MacBook Pro? I'm trying to build a good studio thanks |
Answer: | The NTK is a tube mic, and it has it's own power supply. The mic plugs into the power supply with a 7-pin mic cable, and then you connect the power supply to your mic pre, via a standard 3-pin xlr cable. No phantom needed at all. |
Question: | can i use this mic in my studio...for vocal rec purpose,,,,,,,,,also say with wch system and mixer its compatible |
Answer: | Definitely! It is primarily designed for vocal recording, providing a smooth and warm tone, perfect for both male and female vocals. Being that it is a tube mic, it has it's own power supply, so all you need is a mic pre and interface (or an interface with a mic pre). Do note that tube mics do have a warm up period, so you will want to turn on the mic for about 30mins prior to recording, so that tube is nice and warm. |
Question: | Whats the advantage of the power supply over using phantom power from my interface |
Answer: | It’s a necessity, not am advantage |

Question: | Does it come with a stand or an XLR cable |
Answer: | Depends, what are you recording? Original yeti is large and a bit more versatile, you can record in 4 different audio direction, i.e omnidirectional, cardioid, bidirectional, and stereo making it ideal for recording YouTube videos, podcasts, large groups, or instrumentals. Yeti nano has 2 audio recording options , Omni and bidirectional, so made more for podcasts and YouTube videos. It’s also smaller. If you want to check out the nano I did a unboxing of the gold yeti nano, search on YouTube Julian Lonzoe yeti nano. It looks pretty awesome. |
