User questions & answers

Question: Would I need to by this twice for top and bottom heads? Sorry, I'm a new drummer
Answer: No, the top “beater” heads are different then the bottom resonate heads., you should not use beater heads as resonate heads unless you looking for a completely strange sounding kit; typically the resonate heads seldom need changing at all just tune them correctly and you should be good to go, usually but not always the beater and resonate heads that are shipped with a NEW kit are not the best, but as a new drummer you can beat the hell out of them as practice then change them out for some quality heads.. hope this helps
Question: Good for metal
Answer: Yeah. The Tom heads have a real nice fat sound. I used Evans on both my 5 1/2 inch 1967 Ludwig Supraphonic snare and my 6 1/2 Ludwig custom maple snare and then dial it in with Moon Gel if the house requires a dampened sound. Used to use Remo heads for years but really like Evans for their versatility and fat sound.
Question: Are these good for toms while playing rock
Answer: ABSOLUTELY! What I really like is, I am considered a fairly hard hitter, and after my gig is over the heads still look BRAND NEW! I use them on all my toms 10"12"14"and16" and they have the warmest sound to me... Would recommend!
Question: Evans has now revamped all of their heads with a new 360 fit design. I need to know if the ones you have in stock are this model and not older prod
Answer: Since the model numbers are remaining the same, there doesn't seem to be a way to tell (here or elsewhere). I have gone back to picking up heads in store, until this is fixed, admittedly at a much higher cost. The 360s are that much better, worth the hassle, and I have been a remo guy for 20+ years.

User questions & answers

Question: What's the difference between the clear and coated versions?i have g1 resonant heads, will these sound good combined? looking for that hard rock/metal
Answer: These aren't what you'd traditionally call "coated"..they're frosted, a thinner type of coating, making them translucent, but not 100% clear. More attack but less tone. I play rock/hard rock also, and use the clear ec2's with g1 clear reso's.
Question: Does it come with a set for the bottom of the drum
Answer: It does not come with them per say, but Evans does make resonant heads in that line. But you must buy those separately.
Question: is this the level
Answer: Yes.
Question: Could I tune these to sound like the Toms from the openening of chop suey! By System of a Down, if I add some dampening / would I need dampening
Answer: Yes you could. These heads are meant for metal! Lots of punch, and durable asf! Dampening prolly on the floor tom if your by yourself. But in a band, I wouldn’t dampen anything but the bass drum. 🤘🏻

User questions & answers

Question: Would these be good for marching tenor/quads
Answer: No, Evans makes specific head for marching percussion
Question: Why are all the logos different
Answer: Evans just changed its logo and packaging in late 2019. It will take a while for the older logo and packaging to get cycled through dealers inventory. You can request new logos/packaging, but that might not be possible if the dealer has not restocked that particular head since the branding change was made.
Question: Will it work for bass drum
Answer: no this head is for small tom toms only I would suggest you purchase an evans emad head for bass drum . just measure the shell and we have all sizes listed on amazon thanks dennis lidc
Question: Is the item's model is EC2 or EC
Answer: I guess there's no guarantee if you'll get them until the pre 360 stock runs out. I do know the salesman at the local GC are trying pass off their remaining stock as 360's. gave me a line of crap that the rep told him all the heads are 360's some just don't have the stamping. I pulled it out of the box and showed the guy the difference and he still argued with me about it.

User questions & answers

Question: My toms are 10.5, 12.5, and 16.8 will these work
Answer: You aren't measuring your drums correctly. Drums sizes are nearly always in round numbers. So you probably have a 10 inch, 12 inch and 16 inch set. And again this wouldn't be the set for you, as these are for 12, 13 and 16 inch drums. When you measure your drums, measure just the head, not the whole drum.
Question: are these level
Answer: If I recall correctly yes. But, when I get to my set I will double check and update.
Question: I notice it say Pack. Is it one of each size or two for both heads of a drum
Answer: It's just the batter heads only.
Question: How much would these resonant on 12 and 16 inch if I put a G1 clear on the 12 and 16 inch as reso heads
Answer: It's the exact setup I have and it sounds phenomenal

User questions & answers

Question: what is the size of the hole
Answer: I'm not sure but I can just slide my beta sm 91 in there. Shure mic
Question: Is evans emad system pack, 22 inch comes in 2 pcs (front & back
Answer: Yes
Question: Does it come with the hardware needed to attach to the base drum
Answer: It comes with a batter head and a ported front head but hardware. You would use the lugs and claws that are on your bass drum if you have them.
Question: I have a tension watch for my drum heads what should I tune this head to to play heavy metal
Answer: Loosen all the lugs first , then finger tighten all the lugs , push down on the rim with both hands and body weight in 4 different points , then finger tighten the lugs again . Once that is done 1/4 turn all the lugs than 1/4 turn all the lugs again . That what I do . If your personal preference is tighter than that use 1/4 turns only so you don't have the rim and the head seat uneven . If their is to much boom tighten the front head 1/4 turns and try it until the boom is gone or as close to gone as you can get it . I also have a pillow in it to soak up the sound . Hope this helps you .

User questions & answers

Question: Would a clear g1 sound good with a coated g
Answer: I use a clear G1 for the bottom heads and a coated G2 for the top heads with my birch kit and I absolutely love the sound! I use this combination with my (WxD) 8x8,10x10,12x11, 13x12 14x13, and 16x16. I would absolutely recommend this combination. On my maple kit, I use clear G2 tops with clear G1 bottoms. I have not used coated G2 for top heads on my maple kit yet, though I plan to in the near future because of the sound my birch kit puts out. INCREDIBLE. I hope this helps.
Question: What sizes are these
Answer: 10,12,16
Question: Can the Evans g1 can be also use as reso head even if there batter heads
Answer: Yup! If you look it up they don't really sell heads labeled for the resonant side for toms. It appears that heads for toms are for both top and bottom though most people tend to go with thinner plys for the bottom. I bought these specifically to use as reso heads and I got some Remo coated heads for the batter side
Question: Would somebody explain me the difference between: clear standard, clear fusion, clear rock, coated fusion ....etc, please
Answer: standard, fusion and rock are talking about the size of the toms not they type of head.fusion is 10,12,14 toms. rock is usually 12,13,16 or 12,14,16. clear is clear head, coated is coated head, if you dont know about heads do some youtube searching for comparisons between the types of heads.

Answer: Yes its quite detailed. However, the blade is extremely dull and a lot of work is needed to make it sharp. With that said mine is just sitting around.
Question: I have a pearl African mahoghany (13 inch) that I usally tune high for a good pop sound. Will this head accentuate or repress the pop
Answer: Steel
Question: Good reso head and snare wire to pair with this
Answer: The one displayed is what I got about 2 years ago. However the knive is low quality and don't plan on using it to shave. Mine is now used as bathroom decor.

User questions & answers

Question: Would anyone recommend pairing this wish a Remo Ambassador Coated batter head
Answer: It would sure be worth trying. The reason I use them is because I have big drums, 9x13, 16x16, 16x18 and 16x24 BD. They DEFINITELY cut down on the over ring without having to tune them higher than the batter head. Give them a try, I use them with Coated Aquarian Performance 2's and LOVE them. Best of luck!
Question: is this a batter head
Answer: No its a reso head to control the overtones from the bottom of the drum
Question: can the remo suede emperor on top sound good with some evans ec reso on the bottom of a gretsch maple kit
Answer: I can't see why not. Heads are an experimental art, so you're gonna have to see what works well with your batter heads of choice.
Question: Would anyone recommend paring this to the evans g2 clear head
Answer: I see no reason why not. These are great reso heads and easy to tune. I used the G1s as reso heads when I originally went with black chrome on the batter side and the g1s didn't provide much control so I would think the G2s on top with the EC on the bottom would provide the same kind of results I am getting with BC on top and EC on the bottom.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the pedal come with the bass drum
Answer: I'm sorry..... I'm not trying to be rude here but you're kidding right? This is just the Bass Drum Head. The drum isn't included.... and the pedal is DEFINITELY not included. Even and inexpensive Bass drum is over $100 and a decent pedal about $50 used. Now as far as the EMAD goes.... It's a GREAT Bass Drum Head. I'd highly recommend that. Good Luck
Question: This isn't a resonat head is it
Answer: Nope. It’s a beater head. And it’s killer
Question: Is these a matte finish or glossy
Answer: The Onyx is matte finish..... looks great too. The black chrome is glossy...... but it will get marked up with sticks on the tom drums.....
Question: I'm converting a 22" kick to a side concert tom. Anyone know if this would be a good head choice? Thanks
Answer: Depends on what kinda sound you're aiming for. With the wide ring, it's dark and punchy.
