6 best 1976s
In 1976, the United States minted a special coin series to commemorate the bicentennial of the nation's founding. These coins are commonly referred to as "Bicentennial Coins" and are highly collectible in the world of numismatics (the study and collection of coins and currency). Here are some key details about the 1976 Bicentennial Coins:
Design: The 1976 Bicentennial Coins featured unique designs on the reverse (tails) side. The quarter, half-dollar, and dollar coins all had special designs that celebrated the 200th anniversary of the United States.
Quarter: The Bicentennial Quarter features a colonial drummer on the reverse, surrounded by 13 stars to represent the original 13 colonies. The design was created by Jack L. Ahr.
Half-Dollar: The Bicentennial Half-Dollar showcases a rendition of the Liberty Bell in front of the moon. The design was created by Dennis R. Williams.
Dollar: The Bicentennial Dollar, also known as the Eisenhower Dollar, features a modified version of the Apollo 11 mission insignia, which includes an eagle landing on the moon. The design was created by Frank Gasparro.
Mint Marks: It's worth noting that these coins were minted at various U.S. Mint facilities, and some may have mint marks indicating their origin, such as "D" for Denver or "S" for San Francisco.
Special Sets: In addition to individual coins, the U.S. Mint also issued special Bicentennial Coin Sets that contained all three coins in various packaging options, including proof sets and uncirculated sets.
Collectibility: Bicentennial Coins are popular among collectors due to their historical significance and unique designs. The coins are often collected individually, in sets, or as part of larger coin collections.
Value: The value of Bicentennial Coins can vary widely depending on factors like condition, rarity, and demand among collectors. Some Bicentennial Coins, particularly in high grades, can be worth more than their face value.
It's important to note that if you have Bicentennial Coins or are interested in collecting them, their value can change over time, so it's a good idea to consult with a reputable coin dealer or reference coin pricing guides for the most up-to-date information on their value and rarity.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why do you list as Sliver |
Answer: | There are four versions of the 1976 S Eisenhower Dollar. Two of them are 40 percent Silver and the other two are copper-nickel clad (no silver). This particular graded by PCGS is identified as Silver because it is one of the two versions that are 40 percent silver. The grading company PCGS would not take a chance on ruining their reputation and call a clad coin as silver. Granted it is nit 100 percent silver but the 40 percent silver coins are considered silver by the coin industry. |
