User questions & answers

Question: Is there a man matching style of this one
Answer: Hi! The Seiko SUP880 has a similar cartier styling that would match this one perfectly.
Question: where was it made
Answer: Japan for the watch itself but the leather strap is made in china
Question: What is the expected lifetime of 1) the solar battery and 2) the solar-quartz movement itself
Answer: I cannot answer that question for you at this time. I also purchased the men’s watch. I had one in the 80’s and I was drawn to the Tiffany styling. I believe because it’s solar powered it will be a very long lasting watch. There was an old commercial that Seiko used on television which became its signature branding piece. They stopped a young woman and aske her to respond to her Seiko watch. She was new divorced and mentions that personal when she was interviewed for the commercial. She responded “I’m recently divorced and nothing comes between me and my SEIKO.” She was a hot and she had many gents that were proposing to her. I hope this helps you. Nothing will become me and my SEIKO for sure. Very classy piece.
Question: If strap is 8" end to end, would it be too big for my 6" wrist, with too much extra length beyond the buckle
Answer: No it should fit fine. This watch is perfect for smaller wrists such as yours and mine. The distance from the buckle to the closest and furthest holes goes from 5.25" to 6.75." So it should fit your wrist perfectly.

Question: Will this band fit a croton deep sea diver
Answer: I can't say for sure. I bought this band for a Seiko divers watch.
Question: Several reviewers have used this bracelet for a casio mdv-106. does it require any modification for that watch? will the included spring bars work
Answer: I am using this for the Casio MDV-106. Use the original spring bars that came with the Casio; don't use the spring bars that come with the bracelet. The ones that come with the bracelet are little bit too thick. I was wearing it at the airport when one of the spring bars came off. I returned the bracelet, obtained a credit and ordered a new one. I am using the original Casio spring bars and it seems to be working well.
Question: What size is the clasp? 18mm or 20mm
Answer: 18mm
Question: is this an original Seiko Jubilee Bracelet
Answer: the one i just got here from + 'Watch Connection LA' + is 100% Genuine OEM Seiko .... & the FAT 2.5mm Seiko Diver Spring Bars they included - are Genuine Seiko goods too. This is my 2nd Seiko Bracelet from them - a Highly Recommended Reseller - Prompt Shipping too !!!

User questions & answers

Question: Grey market is seller not seiko approved, no factory warranty; question is does seiko warranty this watch for std. 3-years
Answer: Saler provides a 2 year warranty. My watch is 6 months old and no problems. Watch is in excellent condition (no marks or scratches).
Question: Are the hour markers luminous like the hour & minute hands
Answer: Yes. In order that the watch be luminous at night, you must charge the watchface during the previous day. The luminous face will last 8-10 hours or so, in my experience. So don't let your shirtsleeve cover the watchface during the day if you wish to see the luminous face the following night.
Question: How does the watch get charged. Where is the solar panel? Is it the clear glass cover itself
Answer: The solar panel is the watch face itself not the crystal.
Question: Does this band have a long band? I need one that is longer than normal
Answer: Normal size band, I have a smaller wrist and it is a good size. Bands are easy to change if you need a longer one

User questions & answers

Question: what is the actual bandsize for this watch? i've seen
Answer: Yes the Seiko 7S26 movement winds both ways.
Question: Is the black finish on the watch case a 'brushed' matte look or is it shiney/glossy... can't really tell from pics
Answer: Hello John, you can certainly replace the band and there are many beautiful bands on amazon. I am not sure about the specific canvas band but you should be able to find a nice one for your watch. Just look at the technical details for the band size and happy hunting. PS: You might not want to spend too much time and money buying a new band as the watch is prone to failure after a couple of months. Mine is caputt and in the trash already and even with the warranty, you will spend more time and money sending it back and forth than the $60 you paid for it.
Question: Is the waterproof indicator accurate
Answer: I know the original question is from 3.5 years ago; but, for the benefit of new people researching this watch: This movement has a maximum of about 36 to 40 hours of reserve when fully wound (advertised ~41 hours). To expect an automatic watch at this price point to go longer than that is just ludicrous. If you have worn it all day, that should get you through at least overnight. Give it the "Seiko shake" (hold face up and shake it back and forth) for about a minute to ensure it lasts through the night...I don't think you need to, but it adds a bit of tension to your mainspring and can't hurt. If you take it off Friday and not move it until Monday morning, it would be an unrealistic expectation that it will still be running.
Question: One person says 22mm, Seiko says 20 mm, so what is the actual band width? I'd like to replace mine when I receive it with a rubber band
Answer: The included instructions are for several of Sekio's movements, and not all of them will allow setting the second hand. This one does not. I've read that you can pull the crown in just as the second hand reaches 12, that you can press in on the crown, that the second hand "slows down" when you're moving the hands backward with the crown, and other similar anecdotes, but I can not replicate any of them on my watch. It sure LOOKS like the second hand slows down when you set the watch backward, but if you try it with another chronometer handy you will see that that is just an illusion. If you look carefully in the manual, you will see that it does not claim this as a feature of the automatic movement, only the quartz and automatics without day and date. The Seiko 5 is a very remarkable design for the price. You cannot find much in this price tier that is even close in quality. That said, it's an affordable watch that keeps moderately good time. Even if you could set the second hand, I'm sure you will find that it quickly gets out of sync. Mine loses about one minute in 24 hours when it's kept wound. A skilled watchmaker could probably get that down to half a minute or perhaps less. But it's still breaking in, and nothing in my life depends on that degree of time accuracy. :)If to-the-second timing is critical, you should get a quartz watch, because even most tourbillon watches priced in the six figure range are still not as accurate as a $50 digital watch.

Answer: The band was wider than original band and had to return.
Question: How wide is the buckle? Is this a cheesy band like that which is supplied with the sarb
Answer: Hi, the band is .760 inches at its widest point, and the buckle is .870 inches at its widest point. I briefly owned a SARB017 before deciding the green dial was not for me and returning it. I think, to be honest, this is the same strap as supplied on that watch, if memory serves. I have mine mounted on a SARB035 where it contrasts nicely with the cream colored face, but the strap itself is quite stiff and the quality is not commensurate with the price I paid at the time I got mine, which was over $40. But at the current price, I think it is fine. I would say it looks much better than it feels to wear, but I have received many compliments on it. Hope that helps.

User questions & answers

Question: can you buy replacement bands easily...if so where and what size
Answer: If your asking if I like it yes. It’s original.
Question: I just received this watch from Amazon but I am unhappy with the size diameter of 43 mm. Is there a smaller one available
Answer: No, the owner's manual clearly states you have to manually adjust the watch to the correct date. You also must manually adjust for daylight savings time by syncing with a corresponding time zone
Question: The watch I just bought doesn't have the 'second' hand line up exactly with each 'second' mark. Does this watch fare any better
Answer: Works all over the world.
Question: I am having difficulty setting the day & date. Any help would be appreciated
Answer: As with previous answers, no extra links. My wrist is 7 3/8ths of an inch, 19cm (small), and the jeweler removed four links, still a little loose. Love the watch. Wish the hour markers glowed in the dark.
