12 best training shoes for sprinters
Training shoes for sprinters are specially designed athletic footwear tailored to the specific needs of sprinting, a high-intensity and explosive track and field event. These shoes provide sprinters with the support, traction, and comfort required to optimize their performance. Here are some key features and considerations for training shoes for sprinters:
Lightweight Design: Sprinting shoes are typically lightweight to minimize unnecessary weight that could slow down the sprinter. The lighter the shoe, the less energy is required to lift and move the feet quickly.
Cushioning: While sprinting shoes are generally less cushioned than shoes for longer-distance running, they still offer some level of cushioning to absorb impact forces during sprinting. This cushioning is strategically placed in the forefoot and heel areas.
Spike Plates: Sprinting shoes often have spike plates on the outsole, which allow sprinters to attach spikes for superior traction on the track. These spike plates are usually made of lightweight materials like carbon fiber and are positioned in the forefoot area.
Minimal Heel-to-Toe Drop: Sprinting shoes typically have a minimal heel-to-toe drop, meaning that the heel and forefoot are nearly level. This design encourages sprinters to run on their toes, which is essential for maximizing speed.
Snug Fit: A secure and snug fit is crucial to prevent the foot from moving inside the shoe, reducing the risk of blisters and providing stability during the sprint. Many sprinting shoes have a glove-like fit.
Breathability: Good ventilation is important to keep the feet cool and dry during intense sprinting workouts or races. Breathable materials and mesh panels are often incorporated into the shoe's upper.
Supportive Upper: The upper of sprinting shoes is designed to offer support and stability, especially in the midfoot area. This helps to maintain proper foot positioning and reduce the risk of injury.
Sprint-Specific Last: The last is the shape around which the shoe is constructed.Sprinting shoes have a last designed to promote a more aggressive and forward-leaning posture for sprinting.
Spikes: Depending on the type of sprinting event (e.g., 100m, 200m, or 400m), sprinters can choose the length and configuration of spikes to match the track surface and event requirements.
Durability: Sprinting shoes are built for performance but may not have the same level of durability as training shoes for other sports. Sprinters may need to replace their shoes more frequently, especially if they use them exclusively for racing.
Event Specificity: Sprinters may choose different shoes for different sprinting events. For example, shorter sprints like the 100m may require a more aggressive spike configuration, while longer sprints like the 400m may benefit from a balance of support and speed.
In summary, training shoes for sprinters are specialized footwear designed to enhance speed, traction, and performance on the track. They prioritize features like lightweight construction, spike plates, minimal cushioning, and a secure fit to support sprinters in their pursuit of maximum speed and explosiveness during training and competition.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the Heritage Blue color a light blue or is it a teal color |
Answer: | 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 HILARIOUS!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Right??!! Not so much... This is monk fruit that is not cut (mixed) with any of the disgusting alcohol sugars/steviol glycosides that the cheap brands who market their product with the big words on the front of their packaging that read 'Pure Monk Fruit' or "All Natural Monk Fruit" etc, and in tiny letters on the bottom/ingredient list the words 'erythritol' or 'stevia' or 'baby's tears.' It really defeats the entire purpose of a healthy sugar 'substitute,' but people tend to need convenience. This pure monk fruit does not convert 1:1 like those mixed concoctions. 2/3 of a TEASPOON is the equivalent to 1 CUP of table sugar with pure uncut monk fruit. Those cheaper mixes are cut with other sweeteners not only because it's monetarily beneficial for the vendor, but consumers look for substitutes that enable them to easily convert their sugar substitutes in their recipes (having to constantly get out a calculator or go to a website for every Tbsp/Cup conversion certainly would not be efficient). I guess if you're intent on asking sarcastic questions maybe make sure it's warranted and oh, do a bit of research as to why a product might be so much more superior to, thus more costly than those cheap $4 bags found all over grocery store shelves?? Why even click on it honestly? I guess just to berate a vendor for price gouging... Well, I hope this at least was informative to anyone wondering why this or any monk fruit costs more than others (there really aren't many that are uncut, you have to check labels). And this price really is fair for the amount. This bag should last the average person quite a long time. MmmK Byyyeeeeee! |
Question: | If I bought wide width, will the tongue shoe 11W or just |
Answer: | Don't know. It's taste is less intense than the 25% mongroside Monk Fruit I was using. I like it better. |
Question: | is the toe box roomy |
Answer: | I have read on several occasions that it is keto friendly |
Question: | Do the shoes run small |
Answer: | PureCane tastes just like sugar. Soooo much better. |

INOV-8 SIZE GUIDE
We have graded the fit of all our shoes from 1 to 5 to make it easy for you to find the perfect fitting shoe. All our shoes are designed with Met-Cradle technology to lock down the mid-foot for a stable hold. Where they differ is in the toe box. Grade 1 represents our closest, most precise fit. At the other end of the scale, Grade 5 has the widest fitting toe box.
We have meticulously studied the foot and its function during the gait cycle and also the interaction between the foot and the terrain. We have used this knowledge to develop our fitting scale. For technical footwear a good fit is essential to enhance your performance.
The lower the number on our scale, the narrower the fit, which ensures minimal internal movement of the foot when running fast on technical terrain. Shoes with the higher numbers on our scale will suit athletes with a wider foot and those wanting that extra comfort in the toe box. This wider toe box allows the toes to splay for increased stability when lifting heavy weights. It’s also perfect for longer runs and races when toes begin to swell.
As a rough guide, Grade 1 represents an industry B fit, while Grade 5 equates to a 2E fit in the forefoot.

Question: | Has anyone done a really long hike in these? How did they hold up |
Answer: | I recently put roughly 300 miles on these in the span of a 2 month training cycle, culminating in the Arches 50 mile race in Moab. They held up great, through a variety of training runs and surfaces including pavement, trail, rock, mud and snow. I have the ones with the strap. |
Question: | hola buenos dia cual es el costo real de los zapatos y cuanto seria el costo de envio a venezuela |
Answer: | The question this user asked is: “Hello, good morning, what is the real cost of the shoes and how much would the shipping cost to Venezuela be?” Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer but perhaps now that it’s translated someone can help. |
Question: | Are these good for road running as well |
Answer: | They hold up super well due to the durable rubber outsole. These shoes are great for anything from trail running to running on the street. |
Question: | How are these for hiking? Did anyone try any hiking or camping with these |
Answer: | My two cents. Camping, yes. Hiking, yes, if not to many sharp rocks. Backpacking probably not. My main issue with this shoe is after a few years I don't like to wear regular shoes anymore. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I had the uppers on my vapor glove 2s tear near the sole after a couple months. is the vapor glove 3 any more durable in this department |
Answer: | I had the same problem on my Vapor Glove 2’s- I’ve only had the 3’s a few weeks but they are much more sturdily built. We’ll see if we have any tearing issues like the 2’s did. |
Question: | How would these shoes do for lifting |
Answer: | I use them and they work well, completely flat so it is like you are standing in your socks. There is zero support for your ankles though. Also, if you happen to drop a weight or have a mishap around your feet with one, there isn't any protection for you feet as they are super thin shoes. |
Question: | Should my toe be touching the toe box. First time ever buyn shoes like this, so I don't know how much room should be between tooe and the of the shoe |
Answer: | Regarding sizing, they do fit larger (though according to the Merrell foot length/shoe size chart, these are true-to-size). While the bare access 4's and bare access flex fit the same as my other shoes (Altras, Brooks, Newton, New Balance), and the trail glove 4's fit about a half size larger than my regular shoes, the vapor glove 3's fit about a half-to-whole size larger. My impression is Merrell deliberately sized them larger than their other shoes (particularly in the toe area), so as to allow natural expansion of the foot which may happen over time when running in shoes the more "barefoot" they are. I certainly experienced this in my first 7 mile run in them, as when i tried my trail glove 4's after running in my Vapor Glove 3's, my toes were touching the toe guard. I usually hesitate from sizing down, because even when i wear my size or half size smaller in many shoes, I often experience toe-bleeding, but not the case with these. My guess is that the reviews complaining of premature tearing in the forefoot area of the upper may have to do with customers purchasing them without sizing down, which causes the shoe to bend where it is not reinforced or designed to bend as much. A whole size down would give a more snug fit and lighter shoe, though going a half size down still allows a supportive fit. I'm not sure how the sizing differential scales up with larger sizes, but I'd recommend 1/2 size smaller. And as a usual disclaimer with barefoot and minimalist running shoes, if you are new to barefoot running, take the necessary precautions (i.e. start off with lower mileage, to give your body time to adjust, and focus on proper running form such as proper cadence and foot placement). |
Question: | How does the sizing compare to the Vapor Glove |
Answer: | I wore a 9 in the original vapor glove and also in the vapor glove 2. 9 was way too small in the vapor glove 3. |
