Answer:	It depends on what you are trying to hold. We use this for homeschool curriculum and the boys' magazines. It holds all of that, as well as math manipulatives and art supplies in the cubbies across the bottom. And there is room for more. Each compartment can hold 3-4 elementary size text/workbooks (1-2" thickness). There are 12 of the upright sections. The cubbies could hold many more. It really is an attractive piece and the slender profile makes it a lot of bang for the space it takes in the room. I would recommend this piece ( but if you are having your 8 yr old help you assemble- be prepared for much patience 😉)
