Answer:	They are really stretchy. My mattress is 7 inches wide and goes underneath all the way around. You should be able to have no problem putting a wedge in.

Answer:	Yes, This sheet will work for a mattress that is five inches in thickness. The sheet itself stretches very nicely so that its not too big on a smaller mattress yet still fits on a larger one. Right now I am using this sheet on a crib mattress as well as a memory foam crib topper on top of the mattress and the sheet fits beautifully! Hope that was helpful.

It's soft and thick but not much thicker than regular quilted mattress covers, and you're not going to put your baby on his/her tummy to sleep (like we did when my kids were little 30+ years ago) anyway with the current thinking on SIDS, etc. My granddaughter slept fine as a newborn and is now over a year old. And the quilt cover will grow with her into a toddler bed while she's potty training which will be a big plus in case of accidents!
