Answer:	I would say that it's neither. It's definitely not ceramic, but it doesn't feel like cement either. It's more like a mineral filled resin. It's got a plastic feel to it. Very sturdy, looks great, but not really cement or pottery.

Answer:	The containers have drain holes. And I would assume the tray would not leak water. There for if you fill the tray with water the plant would probably absorb the water from the roots up. However, the tray can probably only hold maybe a half cup of water.
