I didn’t ever submerge mine in water to test it out, but my phone did get rained on a lot during a hike, and the case kept the water out. according to Apple, the iPhone 11 is rated IP68, which means it's water resistant in up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) of water for 30 minutes. There are also plastic waterproof pouches you can buy for a third layer or protection.
