Question:	Will this work with the Nikon D1000? Or the other more expensive one they sell
Answer:	There is no specific drag control knob like some of the other top end ball heads. You can, however, as with any ball head, control tension with the main adjustment control knob. Not ideal and gets tricky with long telephotos but it is adequate for my 70-200 Canon using the lens mount on a fairly heavy tripod.

Answer:	I am not familiar with that type bracket. This ball head accepts the standard Arca Swiss plates. It will not accept my Manfrotto quick release. I looked yours up & just couldn’t tell.

It makes the tripod top heavy and less stable, for me. (Though if you put it upon a very heavy tripod my argument lessens.)

However, considering what you paid for your 701, it's not that much for a heavy-duty ball head for one of the high-end tripods. Your call.
