If your neighborhood Flicker is pecking a hole in a building, fill this birdhouse with wood chips and position it over the unwanted excavation to provide a more suitable nesting location.
Comes complete with wood chips for excavating and a slate squirrel guard.
Hand crafted in the USA by Coveside, of Eastern White Pine which provides insulation and durability.
The wood will naturally age to a beautiful gray color over time, and does not require painting or staining.
Habitat: Prefers open country with trees, parks and large gardens; especially in or at the edge of open woods.
Range: Resides throughout the U.S. and Canada.

| Answer: | The box comes with what I assume are pine shavings. We have used this box for a few years and the flickers usually empty the house a few times each year. They will clear the shavings and starlings will nest and we clear the starlings nest and refill the box. This cycle repeats until the starlings end their nesting time frame and then flickers will nest. So we buy a large bag of pine shavings at a local farm/equine supply store. We did read somewhere that cedar chips are not recommended, but I don't know if that is true. Good luck! |
