Answer:	Yes and No. In other words... it can... but it was not designed to be detachable from the base. That said... the plastic is rather flimsy with the weak spot being the two points on each side where the mirror swivels. (See the photo in the one star review showing the broken frame where the mirror swivels.) The good news is the lighting and charging system is in the body of the mirror, there are no electrical parts or wires in the base. In an effort to make the mirror more compact from traveling we removed the base by cutting it off at the two swivels points. We can attach a string at the two swivel points so the mirror can be hung over the corner of a door or wherever or we can use double sided suction cups (available on Amazon) for attaching it to another mirror. NET: In preparation for a trip... we went looking for a portable, lightweight, two sided mirror (regular and magnified) with LED lighting that was either rechargeable or had a USB port to power the LED lights. There are plenty of mirrors that are battery powered only but that is not ideal. The batteries in those mirrors only last about 1 1/2 weeks at best. Having to find and replace batteries every other week is a pain when traveling. Many dual sided mirrors had batteries in the base making them a little to large for packing and traveling. Anyway... this mirror with the base cut off was the best solution we found. With the base removed... the mirror is 6-1/4 inches wide , 7-1/2 inches tall and one inch thick,can be recharged and/or powered by a USB port and does not need batteries replaced every week or so. • Clean the surface to remove any dirt, then dry it with a dry towel.
• Lightly wet the bottom of the suction cup to create a good seal. Make sure the suction is set to the unlocked position. Then, put it in the desired location.
• After applying pressure, lock the suction cup by rotating the white ring around the base clockwise.

Removing

• Untwist the lock by rotating the white ring counter-clockwise. The suction cup should fall off by itself. Otherwise, pull it off by pulling on the small tab on the top.

Answer:	I always have it fully extended. I measured, and it is 22 inches from top to bottom.

Answer:	Well...My daughter has been using it for about 1.5 months. I haven't used it personally, but checked it out. Here's my novel: The lower tube has a plastic insert at the top. The upper tube fits inside the plastic insert and telescopes up and down. The knurled center piece tightens the plastic insert so that the height can be adjusted. I had to tighten it fairly snug to prevent the upper tube with the mirror from sliding down. The "Y" frame that holds the mirror has a metal threaded insert pressed into the bottom of the "Y" that screws into the top of the upper tube. This can back-out if you try to swivel the mirror side-to-side. I need to put some Lock-Tite on these threads.I know this isn't what you asked but bear with me. Because of the way the stand is designed as I described, I do not think the mirror is supposed to swivel along the axis of the tube (back 'n' forth). But the mirror is supposed to swivel upon the horizontal axis (two points attached at the top of the "Y" frame). There is a plastic bushing on the little shaft at either side of the mirror. These ride inside the holes at top part of the "Y" frame. There is a knurl nut that threads onto both sides to hold the mirror in place. A plastic washer goes between the nut and the "Y" frame. Now for your question after my novel! LOL! My daughter's mirror never got "stuck" when I rotated the mirror along the horizontal axis. But I did notice that it tightened up a little. This was from the right knurl nut tightening as I spun the mirror top towards me. I am going to put Lock-Tite on the both of the knurl nut threads to prevent the nut from spinning at all.Hope this helped. All-n-all, I'd say this is a worth while buy for the price.

Answer:	This is a magnifying mirror. At more than a few inches the reflected image is too distorted to see anything.

Answer:	The suction cups are very strong. Mone hasn't fallen even when there is steam. The magnification is great but perhaps a little to much to use for make up application.
