5 best oil bases
Oil-based products are a common category in the realm of skincare and beauty personal care. These products are formulated with various types of oils and are designed to provide moisture, nourishment, and protection to the skin. They can be used on the body, face, and even hair, offering a range of benefits for different skin types and concerns.
1. Types of Oils:
- Carrier Oils: These oils, such as coconut oil, jojoba oil, and sweet almond oil, are derived from plants and are often used as a base in oil-based products. They are rich in fatty acids and vitamins, providing hydration and nourishment to the skin.
- Essential Oils: Essential oils are concentrated extracts derived from plants and flowers. They are potent and often used for their therapeutic properties and fragrance. Common essential oils used in skincare include lavender, tea tree, and chamomile oil.
- Mineral Oil: A colorless and odorless oil derived from petroleum, often used in skincare products due to its ability to lock in moisture.
- Olive Oil: Known for its antioxidant properties, olive oil is a popular natural oil used in skincare routines.
- Argan Oil: Derived from the kernels of the argan tree, argan oil is rich in vitamin E and is often used for its moisturizing and anti-aging properties.
2. Benefits of Oil-Based Products:
- Hydration: Oils provide deep hydration to the skin, making them suitable for dry or dehydrated skin types.
- Sealing in Moisture: They create a barrier on the skin's surface, preventing moisture loss and keeping the skin soft and supple.
- Nourishment: Oils are rich in nutrients that nourish the skin, providing essential fatty acids and vitamins.
- Antioxidant Properties: Many oils contain antioxidants that help protect the skin from free radical damage, which can contribute to premature aging.
- Soothing and Calming: Certain oils, like chamomile and calendula oil, have soothing properties, making them suitable for sensitive or irritated skin.
3.Common Uses:
- Body Oils: Applied after a bath or shower, body oils keep the skin moisturized and can impart a subtle fragrance.
- Facial Oils: Lightweight facial oils are used in skincare routines to hydrate the face, balance oil production, and provide a healthy glow.
- Massage Oils: Oils like sweet almond or jojoba oil are commonly used in massages due to their smooth texture and skin benefits.
- Hair Oils: Oils like coconut or argan oil are applied to the hair to condition, add shine, and reduce frizz.
It's important to note that while oil-based products offer many benefits, individuals with specific skin conditions or allergies should consult with a dermatologist before using them to ensure compatibility and avoid adverse reactions.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use this in a sugar scrub recipe |
Answer: | It really depends on your recipe. Yes, you absolutely can use this. It's similar to olive oil in how it behaves in that kind of recipe. Mixing this with sugar (or salt) will result in something very nice, no different than the oil-based scrubs with olive oil you find in the stores, except without the stuff you don't want in there. You could also use unrefined coconut oil, the kind you find in the grocery store that is solid at room temperature. Except that your screen name indicates you might live in the South, where coconut oil may be liquid at room temp because it's hot lol. That will create a creamier product, but one that is relatively unstable due to the fact that the oil can melt and re-solidify, causing the salt or sugar to clump at the bottom. If you want a creamy product, look to using whipped cocoa, shea, or mango butter, combined with fractionated coconut, argan, or jojoba, and of course your salt or sugar. Or finely-ground coffee... hmmmm... |
Question: | Does this have a strong oder |
Answer: | It does have a scent. It's not strong but it's not neutral either. It also has a slight flavor. The scent and flavor are perfumey and not of coconut. |
Question: | Is the bottle glass or plastic |
Answer: | It's plastic and comes with a dispensing top. |
Question: | Can it be used in an eye? (i'd rather use natural than the nighttime moisturizer (mineral oil and pertoleum in my eye for dryness |
Answer: | You shouldn't put petroleum products or mineral oil in your eyes. If your actual eyes are dry, there are OTC remedies as well as consulting with a healthcare professional.I have used coconut oil as a makeup remover and in a skin moisturizer with success (but only on the outside of the eye). |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this particular oil food grade |
Answer: | I use it only on dry hair. I have curly hair and apply it every morning and as needed throughout the day if I’m out in humid weather. It keeps it from getting frizzy and stays smooth most of the day. Just don’t put it close to your roots or it will look greasy. |
Question: | Can this oil be used to make mayo |
Answer: | "cure soyeuse" means silky cure. It is a product made in Texas under license from Faroukk Systems, The Netherlands. |
Question: | this oil can be used to cook it |
Answer: | >> Why is this 17.99 and same item is $34? The wholesale price we get from the manufacturer is DEFINITELY MUCH higher than $17.99. Take a chance when you buy such items. Counterfeits are everywhere in eBay and Amazon. |
Question: | what is hexane |
Answer: | After seeing this question, a further investigation was made and a comparison with the one from a local beauty shop definitely indicates that it is thinned out and not the “real thing”, not 100% authentic, in my opinion. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is it really 100% pure? what are the ingredients? Yes! there is only one ingredient: 100% Pure Organic Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis).
Q: What is the scent of Jojoba Oil? The natural scent of organic Jojoba Oil is slightly nutty, earthy.
Q: The bottle arrived frozen, is it normal? Yes! it is perfectly normal and does not effect the properties of the oil. It is even considered as an "home test" to check if a jojoba oil is really 100% pure. Jojoba Oil solidify at 7°C-10.6°C (44.5°F-51°F).
Face Moisturizer
Because it mimics the skin’s natural moisturizer (sebum), jojoba oil is an ideal face moisturizer for all types of skin (dry, oily, or combination). It won’t clog pores, helps balance oil production, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. Jojoba’s light scent is appealing and subtle. In addition, Jojoba’s antibacterial properties help destroy the bacteria that causes acne.
Hair Care
Jojoba oil is great for hair—adding shine, reducing grease, and protecting against split ends. Massaging jojoba oil onto the scalp helps reduce dandruff and itchiness caused by a dry scalp. A scalp massage with jojoba oil can help clear clogged pores and follicles and stimulate blood flow.
Nail and Cuticles
Jojoba can hydrate nail beds, cuticles, and the surrounding skin, which promotes healthy nail growth. By hydrating cuticles, nails get softer and are less likely to break and peel, resulting in longer and healthier nails. To use, soak fingertips in a small amount of jojoba and then massage the surrounding area.
Body Moisturizer
Jojoba is a fantastic all-over body moisturizer. Simply apply to damp skin after a shower or bath to lock in moisture. And, although jojoba oil doesn’t treat the underlying causes of eczema, it can soothe the dry, scaly skin caused by eczema. Apply to affected areas several times a day.
Beard and Mustache Oil
Jojoba oil is ideal for facial hair because it strengthens and moisturizes by enhancing the hair’s natural oils, thereby increasing shine and reducing breakages. Simply put jojoba oil on your hands, rub into your beard/mustache, and distribute with a brush. Because jojoba isn’t greasy, it can be used every day.
Makeup Remover
Because it can be used near eyes, jojoba oil is an excellent makeup remover. Simply put it on a cotton pad and use. In addition to removing makeup, jojoba oil will moisturize and protect skin. Plus, its non-comedogenic properties mean it won’t clog pores.
Massage Oil
Because of all its benefits for skin, jojoba is the ideal choice for massage oil recipes. It won’t leave skin feeling greasy and sticky, is non-allergenic, and won’t stain fabrics. In addition, jojoba oil is shelf-stable because, unlike other oils, it does not oxidize or turn rancid over time because it doesn’t contain triglycerides.
Carrier Oil for Essential Oils
Essential oils must be diluted before being used on skin. A carrier oil helps to dilute essential oils before they are applied to the skin. Jojoba oil is one of the best carrier oils because it mimics the skin’s natural moisturizing oils, is non-allergenic, won’t clog pores, and absorbs quickly.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I apply this on my 1 year old daughter’s hair |
Answer: | I used them on my Nikon 200 f/4 macro lens with very good results. A word of caution... 300mm and 200-400mm lenses are HEAVY and theconnections between the camera and the tubes and between the lens and the tubes is not very strong. That is because they are not make tosupport a lot of weight, torque etc. If not handled VERY carefully, you are taking a chance that they will break due to this connection. For example, if you hold just the camera plus these tubes while using a 200-400mm lens you take a great risk that the lens is so heavy that the connection will break!!!! Just an FYI... Best of luck. Gordon Ripley |
Question: | Can this be used on hair |
Answer: | They are plasting casing with a metal mount. For what they are used for they are sturdy. I have used heavy lenses on mine with good results (70-200mm F2.8). They will work on all EOS cameras, and fit all EF and EF-S lenses. Lenses retain full functions, like AF, aperture control, IS, and so on. |
Question: | Why doesn't this have any fragrance? (I expected almond oil to smell like, well, almond oil.) (I'm a novice re plant oils |
Answer: | I'm not certain if this applies to the Sony E mount but suspect it does to all bayonet-style lens mounts: The Kenko extension tubes are the only ones we found that do not suffer from a design defect that allows a tube to not release from a mated lens. Our experience is with the Canon EF mount but the defect common to every other brand of mount we examined would apply to any mount that secures a lens or extension tube by means of a locking pin that fits into a camera-side holding the mount face to prevent lens (or extension tube) rotation. Having had a $2500 lens held hostage fornover a week by a different brand's extension tube, on that basis alone, the Kenko tubes are worth a premium. Beyond that, it appears that there is a price differential between mounts, with the Sony E mount version being the highest I can recall seeing. This may be due to the number of Sony shooters interested in buying tubes compared to, say, Canon or Nikon shooters against a backdrop of fixed custom tooling costs and perhaps other fixed expenses to support any specific mount. All that said, our experience with the Kenko tubes has been 100% positive after several years. We recommend them. |
Question: | can you put this on your face |
Answer: | That's an excellent question - and no, I don't know the answer. I would suspect not - I think Fuji cameras treat the extenders like a foreign (adapted) lens. That's just a guess, though and I couldn't be sure unless I ran some tests. You'd probably have your camera on a firm support, though, when the extenders are attached and the lens is operating in macro mode so you most likely wouldn't be relying on OIS anyway. |
