I'm not sure if it's the "long handle" End of handle to Blade it measures 4 inches. As for the bowl. I haven't read any reviews of it, but I am in the process of replacing it. There's nothing wrong with it, but for daily use it has some limitations. It is thin stainless steel and as such it doesn't retain heat. So filling it with near scalding water to soak the brush will result in cold water after a few minutes (returning from a shower). Likewise, the bowl is just large enough to do the job required. I've used a ceramic soup bowl (deeper, wider, with handle) as a test and it was much easier to use and kept my lather warm throughout the shave. My intention is to purchase a decorative ceramic bowl for daily use and then keep this smaller bowl as a travel bowl. The rest of the kit lends itself easily to packing in a travel kit, except the bowl. this bowl is small enough to easily pack along in the toiletries bag.
