| Answer: | It's hard to explain, but the tether is attached to a piece of nylon webbing which is sewn to the cloth (which is underneath the removable seat.) However, the seatbelt is placed through the nylon webbing making it, in my opinion, very secure. I would think that the only better way of securing the dog would be to attach the tether directly to the seatbelt buckle and as long as the harness doesn't fail, you would have a very secure device. Unfortunately, I have a 11 lb Shichon who likes to look out the window. If I were to tether her directly to the seatbelt buckle I know she would sit on the seat and whine. BTW - the frame of the seat is a hard core of Styrofoam. I've been very pleased with my purchase, but then I haven't been involved in an accident either. I only use a harness with the tether, not a collar. I hope I've explained this well enough for you to make a decision. Good luck! |
