Question:	Can you use this product in Europe
Answer:	No you cannot!!! Despite being clearly labelled as working OK with "120-250V" outlets, this is not the case. While on vacation in Europe my wife plugged it in to an outlet and it began sparking and almost caught on fire. This is a clear fire and safety hazard and this product should be pulled from the shelves.

Most regular sized irons are 11 to 12 inches. This is called a mini iron. This is from the drop down menu below the regular iron. It is important to read all the descriptions to know what you are getting.
Question:	Does it work well on African American or mixed curly hair
Answer:	I've had this flat iron for 5 or 6 years, I've used it for maybe about 3 of those years where my hair was a mix of natural and permed, and YES it works very well on African American hair. There is a heat controlled setting on this flat iron. So, to the person that states it's too hot and breaks an AA's hair off, first of all, not all AA's hair is the same. My hair requires a greater amount of heat to straighten. Second, I don't think they are using the setting correctly because the heat setting can be controlled. It will fry anyone's hair (fabrics, clothing, etc.) on the highest setting, which I believe is 450 deg. I keep it right around 410 deg. I use this to achieve very straight styles (or right after a shampoo and blow dry) and my mini for daily use. I also use this with a thermal protector like Mizani thermal protector. I also use to use this with the Mizani's Gloss Veil when until they stopped making it. Make a long story short, it can get very hot, but don't use it on it's highest setting.
Question:	what is the difference between the 3rd generation and regular iron
Answer:	I believe the only difference is that the 3rd generation has slightly longer plates than the regular iron. Neither of these flat irons are of the current generation, which is why they're being sold so cheaply. I think they must be a few years old, because if you look at the current 1-inch flat iron on HSI's website, it's slightly different and costs quite a bit more. That said, I bought the regular iron here and I could not be happier with it. It's everything I wanted. I can curl or straighten my hair, it doesn't burn, the temperature can be adjusted so easily. My only warning is that it doesn't have an automatic turn-off, so you need to be someone who can always remember to turn it off or unplug it.

After talking to Farouk about the two flat irons I have both having issues I was flabbergasted when they told me that " Their products are not to be sold on the internet and if purchased that way it voids the warranty!" I don't know how they can do that legally but it is even written on the insert in the box. One that I purchased had the plug plastic shatter exposing the wires. The other just stopped working and they would not cover either. I certainly got an education in this matter. The model GF1001 if made in the USA is a counterfeit if made in China it is authentic. I initially purchased two and just found out one is authentic and the other is not. I ordered a new one to replace the one that had the problem with the plug and the nNoteew one is counterfeit. It's hit or miss but no matter what even if it is authentic they WILL NOT warranty it. I am actually researching the legal aspect of not warranting it if purchased on line. The state of CA has very rigid consumer laws and I have a hunch they are violating them. Good Luck! ***they all say "USA" on the outside of the box

Answer:	I can confirm that I used this product in the UK. All I needed was a 110v to 220v plug adapter and it worked brilliantly overseas for the last 3 years without any issues. The cord for this flat iron is pretty short though, and that was my only issue.

Question:	Is this the knock off? Because ulta beauty has this flat iron w/o a power button. Sus
Answer:	Plastic? Not really. Water only comes into contact with plastic when you pour, some of the pieces of the lid are plastic. Water contact with plastic is very brief. Silicone? Harder to say... maybe. It LOOKS like there is a silicone seal in the base of the unit. If so, then water is in contact with it during the heating process. From what I can tell, most common silicone sealants are food safe.
Question:	Does this do a good job at curling your hair
Answer:	I have been considering this and the one touch and from what I remember this does not have any plastic on the inside. Because of that I was leaning toward this one even though I really prefer the one touch due to the advanced function. Unfortunaltly, the steeper basket in the one touch has plastic on it that goes in the water... really?! for $250!!! Hopefully they make an all stainles steel basket in the future

Answer:	Just the silicone ring that seals the heating element in--though I suppose that is technically not plastic? Also, the lid is plastic, so condensation from the boiling water touches that and then drips back into the pot. We do love ours though.
