Answer:	Hello: Yes the Camellia oil is for topical use directly on the skin.I usually use just a drop or two patted onto my face twice a day. I am 60 plus years old...I also use Rose Hip Seed Oil regularly and have noticed a great change in my skin. Both oils are natural sources of retinoids. My skin is incredibly soft now and the color has come back into my cheeks. A little bit goes along way. I also use it on my neck and anywhere else on my body that is needing moisture. It does have a slightly "earthy" smell, but it dissipates quickly once it is patted into the skin. I don't know if there is any FDA approval, but since they are both readily available for sale here, I would think it is harmless. I buy it from sources on Amazon because the prices are the best. A lot of small co-ops such as those on the Goto and To-shima islands use a traditional “no spray, no fertilizer” growing method sometimes with an eco cert. for such. 2. Refining - this is to remove the smell from the oil and of course any tidbits left from the pressing. The natural smell of the oil is rather earthy and it actually reminds me of peanut oil almost. But luckily the natural smell dissipates after a 2-3 minutes. As a side note I have, in my 25+ yrs. of use, found these to be SLIGHTLY superior as the process to remove the natural scent involves heat and alters the oil from its original state. 3. All tsubaki oils, even the so-called “unrefined” ones, are in fact refined as they are at minimum filtered which is by definition a form of refining. I have NEVER seen an unfiltered tsubaki oil for sale.

Answer:	I definitely would not attempt to use this under makeup. It is very oily, slick and a shiny type of oil. It takes awhile to absorb in the skin. I don’t even think most makeup could adhere to your skin once the oil is applied. I recommend using this for a ‘dewy’ sun-kissed look or at bedtime only. Definitely do not attempt to put powder foundation or liquid foundation over it or you will find yourself an oily makeupy mess.
