If installing a pressure mounted gate at the bottom of your stairs, you could always look into the Qdos Y-Spindles. If this is for a hardware mount gate at the top of stairs, unfortunately it will need to have a 'wrap' area of 16" or less.
Question:	Could a cat fit through the bars? How wide apart are they
Answer:	The Qdos Stair Mounting Kit is designed to fit square banisters up to 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm), or round banisters up to 5” (12.7 cm) in diameter. If trying to install this between two spindles that have a distance of 5.25", we would prefer to see pictures of the space you are trying to fit before confirming or denying the fit. Answer:	Mine is mounted in a 32" opening. The user guide says it will go up to 42-1/2" openings. They also mention optional 10" extensions for 42" to 63" wide. They recommend no more than two extensions per gate.

Answer:	Yes, but most gates are mounted easily in doorways as both mounts would be parallel to each other & gate perpendicular (like an "H"). What's great about this gate is that you can mount it between walls that don't line up as parallel to each other, like an "N".

Answer:	It can swing a full 180* if needed. Our gate is set to open and swing from either direction. Yes it can be flush against the wall that the hinges are on.

Answer:	It works with other brands. It basically is a set of clamps that go around your stair banister. Then it has a piece of wood that attaches to the clamps. This wood is what you screw your gate hardware into.

Answer:	The width can be adjusted and the end extensions are screwed out to fit. Nice gate system. We have two and they are great.
Question:	What exactly come in this installation kit? Just a board and zip ties? Does it include the plastic part that screws into the wall
Answer:	The gate is all metal. Nice construction. The mounting hardware is plastic and steel pins. If mounted on the door frame, just need to screw into the wood. If mounted on drywall, you will need a wood strip to be attached to the drywall. Then attach the hardware to the wood strip. Some adjustment my be needed if the existing opening is not plum and out of square. I suggest a small level be used as you plan out the installation. Again, nice working hardware and quality gate.

Many homes have staircases that aren't bordered by a wall. In this situation The Y spindle aids installation of the pressure mounted gates to these types of staircases. The Y spindle Wraps around the baluster to provide a secure installation. On all Gateway models, the Y spindle can be used on either side of the gate. Simply swap out the included padded spindles for a Y spindle on as many corners as is needed. Note: for installation of a pressure-mounted gate on a staircase with balusters on both sides, you will need to use a K100 installation kit.

Answer:	This does not fit Regalo gates. The same concept, metal screw-like pieces that fit into the ends, but they are much thicker/larger and will not fit a regalo gate.
