Answer:	Thank you for reaching out with your concern! I want to assure you that the silicone we use is FDA approved, 100% food-grade silicone with no fillers added whatsoever. We use a soft silicone composition in order to allow the plates to be soft and pliable. There is a large misconception about the “pinch test” that has sadly gained popularity in the blog world. The pinch test is a completely unsubstantiated way to test whether silicone contains plastics and other harmful chemicals because depending on the type of silicone used, some pure silicone will still show white depending on how hard or soft it’s composition is. If you try to do a search you will see that it only comes up as customer concerns or blurbs written by bloggers, but no actual evidence to prove the accuracy of this test The presence of white when the silicone is bent/pinched is caused by a few things: 1. Tensile strength: The hardness of silicone differs depending on the product. We use a fairly soft silicone which can be bent and stretched a bit. Keep in mind that silicone starts out a clear/white then each plate is colored, so the tension can pull the color pigments and allow the translucent silicone to appear. If you try the same test with a thicker silicone product it will be less stretchy and more difficult to see the white. 2. There are 2 types of food grade silicone: Precipitated silica - produced by precipitation from a solution containing silicate salts. It results in white precipitate and is more porous. This version tends to show “white” when stretched. Fumed silica - produced from flame pyrolysis of silicon tetrachloride or from vaporized quartz sand. This version has a very strong thickening effect and does not show “white” when stretched. We take great care to have all of our products inspected and tested to assure the highest quality and safety, especially for little ones. We would never create or stand behind a product that we wouldn’t use for our own kids. It’s so important for us that our customers are happy and that they trust our brand.
