One strap goes around your seat's headrest vertically and the other horizontally. I have this mirror for my grandson, so when I take out his car seat because I won't be having him in the car, I unclick the straps and put the whole mirror in the seat to store in my garage until the next week I will watch him. The mirror is easy-peasy to take on and off. (I WISH the car seat was as easy to buckle in!). :)

Answer:	Hello RoseMarie, If you do not have a center headrest, you can attach the mirror to one of the side seat headrests, then swivel the mirror to point toward your child in the center seat. The mirror is large enough and the swivel has a large enough range that you will be able to see your child in the middle seat even with the mirror on the side seat headrest. I hope that is helpful.
