Answer:	If my research is correct, it depends upon what type of transformer you have in your house. If it's 16V and above, you should be able to run directly off hardwire. If it's below 16V, leave the batteries in, and it'll trickle charge the batteries. Older houses have some transformers that go down to 8V, but still hook it up hardwired, just for the charge.
