14 best caliper greases

Caliper grease, also known as brake caliper grease, is a specialized lubricant used in automotive applications, particularly in the braking system. Its primary purpose is to lubricate various components within the brake caliper to ensure smooth and efficient operation while preventing corrosion and reducing noise. Here are some key points about caliper grease:

  1. Lubrication: Caliper grease is applied to key brake components like the caliper slide pins and the back of the brake pads. It helps reduce friction between these parts, allowing them to move freely and ensuring even brake pad wear.

  2. Preventing Corrosion: Brake components are exposed to moisture and can be susceptible to rust and corrosion. Caliper grease creates a protective barrier that helps prevent rust formation on metal surfaces.

  3. Noise Reduction: One of the benefits of using caliper grease is noise reduction. It can help dampen vibrations and reduce squealing or squeaking noises that can occur during braking.

  4. Heat Resistance: Caliper grease is designed to withstand high temperatures generated during braking. It remains stable under heat and doesn't break down or evaporate easily.

  5. Compatibility: It's essential to use a caliper grease that is compatible with the materials used in your vehicle's brake system. Some greases are formulated specifically for use with rubber components, while others are designed for use with metal parts.

  6. Application: When applying caliper grease, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Typically, you would clean the surfaces, apply a thin layer of grease, and reassemble the brake components.

  7. Safety: It's crucial to avoid getting grease on the friction surfaces of the brake pads and rotors, as it can reduce braking performance. Always exercise caution and apply grease only where specified.

Caliper grease is an important part of brake maintenance and can help extend the life of your vehicle's braking system while ensuring safe and quiet operation. When working on your vehicle's brakes or considering the use of caliper grease, it's advisable to consult your vehicle's service manual or seek advice from a qualified automotive professional to ensure proper application and compatibility with your specific vehicle.

User questions & answers

Question: what part of brake i can use this safetly? hub and rotor contact? caliber guide pin? metal to metal contact
Answer: These will work very well for you at work. I use them all the time at work to reduce staff noise, and air conditioner room noise, etc. They are terrific and very, very comfortable!!
Question: Can i use this on my 2011 subaru outback's caliper pins, sleeves, back and side of the brake pads? is this the only lubricate i need for my brake job
Answer: I wear mine nightly for a week before replacing them. If you use them much longer than that, they change consistency, losing the "memory" that keeps them compressed. They become like normal spongy foam and don't block sound as well. I suppose they absorb moisture and/or wax from your ear.
Question: Why should not I use copper base anti-seize lube and use this? Please advice. Thank you
Answer: Each earplug should probably last at least 5 days. It will depend on how much earwax you produce. Ear wax will build up on the earplug. If you do not produce much ear wax, each plug could last 10 days or more.
Question: Is this a Silicone based lube
Answer: The decibel level they reduce is either 30 or 32. It says so on the package. But if you do not put them in your ears properly, then they will not work. You need to roll them evenly to a small tight cylinder shape, and hold your ear canal open by tugging on your ear lobe, then insert it into your ear canal, and let it expand and seal your ear canal. Take it out SLOWLY in the morning!

User questions & answers

Question: Is it silicone grease
Answer: I’ve e-mailed them and gotten a response. Try going to their website and looking for ‘contact us’. The responded quickly when I asked when these earplugs would ge available again.
Question: Can u put this on the edge of break pads wen u replace the old one
Answer: No. Not at all. They're huge. I would ask your pediatrician before putting anything in a baby's ear, I doubt that is recommended.
Question: Is this safe for use on slide pins that have a plastic bushing inside? Is it safe for rubbers too
Answer: I got them for my 9-11 year olds and they fit. They are small and flexible. I haven’t tried them on a younger child. My kids are physically small in comparison to peers the same age.
Question: Does this contain petroleum
Answer: I do not know the actual actual rating... but in use it seems to provide the noise reduction this type of suppressor generally delivers. Fit is OK... I have used some a bit better.

User questions & answers

Question: Can use this on back of brake pads
Answer: If you start at zero, and put the tip on some higher object you get a reading, say. 0.2. If the unit shuts off, when you turn it back on it reads 0. If it has not been moved from the original position, when you then move the tip off the measured point, it will indicate how far the rod has moved, which is the reading the dial had before it went off automatically. If you move it off the measured point when it is in the auto off condition, it will read 0 when you restart because it always reads 0 at power up.
Question: Why do some people say you cant use this on rubber but on back of label says you can
Answer: They have different ranges . The accuracy of size A is 0.01mm / 0.0005'', which is accurate to two decimal places (Hundreds). Size B has an accuracy of 0.001mm / 0.00005'', which is accurate to three decimal places (Thousands)
Question: Can I use this on brake caliper slider pins too
Answer: 4-48 is the to thread pitch

User questions & answers

Question: Permatex 24110 ultra is 100% synthetic. permatex 80653 is 100% silicone. ok great, but which one is better? both are for rubber parts, pads and pins
Answer: All 4 wheels = 8 pads, with some to spare.
Question: Is this product ok to use on brake pads (ears, back
Answer: I suggest you contact the manufacturer before you try it. Most companies have excellent customer service and are happy to answer your questions.
Question: Is it okay to use on the sides of the caliper's piston, or will the residual contaminate the brake fluid
Answer: This silicone is used for the caliper guide pin. If you need for brake pads, get the 3m copper anti seize grease.
Question: can i use this on the back and side of brake pads
Answer: Ford X-3-G-A silicone brake caliper pin grease is recommended for Fords - it is compatible with EDPM rubber, which I fear your Ford may have (not Nitrile or Buna N rubber). For safety's sake, use a silicone grease (Ford's is $13.44 on Amazon) or another silicone brake caliper pin grease. The permatex grease is petroleum based and may swell and damage your seals. Oil resistant seals (like Buna N) would hold up to the grease, but Ford may not have used that rubber.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this good to put on rubber parts, slider pins, clips and boots
Answer: The 05353 is a larger (12oz) tub. Also, the 05359 (8oz) comes with a application brush integrated in the cap. I have not verified if the 05353 has this application brush but its doubtful since the top is very flexible unlike the smaller bottle which has a hard cap. Hope this helps...
Question: Will this really hold up on the pad ears and back of the pad
Answer: Hi Adan! Most Toyota's recommend a silicone-based grease, such as our Silaramic grease (no. 05361). However, we strongly recommend that you consult your owner's manual to decide on the best choice for your specific car.
Question: st brake job since new. Do I need to completely clean out the whole for the pins/factory grease before applying or is it ok to just apply/mix? thanks
Answer: Do not use it on rubber. The rubber will swell up.
Question: Can someone please post a picture of what the paste looks like? is it purple? is it like vaseline? is it like dish soap
Answer: There is no way to unlock the auto-close function. The product will automatically shut down after 5 minutes of inactivity. The automatic shutdown function can avoid forgetting to shut down after use, resulting in long-term standby of the product, which consumes battery and product life. Here is our email address: [email protected] Should you have any problem, please feel free to contact us, we will try our best to help.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the right way to open the tube
Answer: These are the new ones with the easy pull ends, not as pictured. I had to return them, too large for my ear.
Question: Can you use this product on battery terminal
Answer: No, there isn't a huge difference. My beef with Amazon was that they advertised the product as a 33, but sent 32's instead. I used to buy the 33's from my local Bartell parmacy but after using for several years it's no longer available so I ordered from Amazon. I tried 3 other brands from Amazon, but none fit as well as the Hearos. The 32's are fine for noise reduction and don't fall out of your ears during the night.
Question: How many tubes will I need to do slide pins
Answer: They are rounded on one end (the part you place into your ear) and a flat end on the other. These ear plugs work great and I highly recommend them.
Question: Can you use this on battery terminals
