12 best heated atv grips
Heated ATV grips are a popular accessory for all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and are designed to provide warmth and comfort to the rider's hands during cold weather conditions. These grips are a valuable addition to the handlebars of an ATV, enhancing the overall riding experience by keeping the hands warm and preventing numbness in low temperatures. Here are some key features and information about heated ATV grips:
Heating Elements: Heated ATV grips are equipped with integrated heating elements that generate warmth when activated. These elements are typically made of materials like resistive wire or carbon fiber, which are known for their efficient heating properties.
Temperature Control: Most heated ATV grips come with adjustable temperature settings, allowing riders to select their preferred level of warmth. Some models offer multiple heat settings, enabling users to tailor the heat output to the prevailing weather conditions.
Easy Installation: These grips are designed for relatively easy installation, often requiring basic hand tools. They can be installed as an aftermarket accessory or come pre-installed on some ATV models.
Power Source: Heated grips require a power source to operate. They are typically connected to the ATV's electrical system, drawing power from the vehicle's battery. It's important to ensure that the ATV's electrical system can support the additional load.
Wiring and Controls: Heated grips usually have a control unit or switch that allows riders to turn the heating elements on and off. The control unit is often mounted on the handlebars for easy access while riding.
Safety: Heated ATV grips are designed with safety in mind. They are equipped with features such as overheat protection to prevent damage and ensure rider safety. Some models also have automatic shut-off timers.
Weatherproof Design: Quality heated grips are built to withstand the rigors of off-road riding and exposure to the elements. They are typically weatherproof or waterproof to prevent damage from moisture and dirt.
Compatibility: When purchasing heated ATV grips, it's important to ensure compatibility with your specific ATV model and handlebar size. Universal options are available, but some grips may be designed for specific ATV brands or models.
Benefits: Heated ATV grips offer several benefits, including improved comfort during cold rides, enhanced grip due to reduced hand fatigue, and increased safety by maintaining dexterity in the hands.
Maintenance: To ensure the longevity of heated grips, regular maintenance is recommended. This may include cleaning, inspecting wiring connections, and checking for any signs of wear or damage.
In conclusion, heated ATV grips are a valuable accessory for ATV enthusiasts who ride in cold or chilly conditions. They provide comfort, warmth, and safety benefits, allowing riders to enjoy their ATV adventures even in less-than-ideal weather. Proper installation and maintenance are essential to maximize the performance and lifespan of these grips.

User questions & answers
Question: | will they fit on a Polaris sportsman atv |
Answer: | Yes, I installed on a 2007 Sportsman 500 deluxe, worked great, you will have to drill hole in headlight housing for toggle switch, and use compressed air to get old grips off, works like magic. Put air nozzel in hole on end of old grips and they will come off very easy |
Question: | is the heat good enough to warm my hands through gloves? hands still get cold with gloves on in colorado, was hoping its strong enough to heat through |
Answer: | I am not sure, I am going to Colorado on a combo deer/elk hunt next month and have not used them in the cold weather yet. A friend has a set from a competitor brand and swears by them. I am thinking they will be plenty warm. I had them professionally installed to the ignition. Otherwise, they could drain the battery. |
Question: | Can I get heated grips for non-battery machine |
Answer: | Nope. Needs 12v power and a good ground |
Question: | Is the switch on this weatherproof? Given only 40w, is it recommended to use a relay or just to use an ignition wire |
Answer: | The wires do not have sealed connections but they sit under my ATV's panels so I'm not worried about water. You could seal off the wires with heat shrink tubing if you want a good seal. The instructions recommend just using an ignition wire. That's exactly what I did and I have not run into any problems. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will these work on a snowmobile |
Answer: | Yes. They would work but the heated mittens/bar warmers maybe better |
Question: | I see "push on" or "clamp on" versions of these heated grips. Does one work better than the other |
Answer: | Hi, I went for the clamp on version, being an engineer I like the option to remove/reposition etc. It's a good tight fit and I simply couldn't be happier with the grips a season later. The only negative being the flimsy plastic bracket that hold the little control box to the bars, although it hasn't broken, it's just a cheap part on an otherwise excellent set up. |
Question: | Is heat shrink tubing included for the thumb warmer |
Answer: | Yes. heat shrink tubing is included for the thumb warmer. |
Question: | Will these fit a arctic cat 650 v twin automatic 4x4 atv cat green |
Answer: | Yes |

User questions & answers
Question: | can I hook these up directly to the controller switch on my Moto Guzzi California 1400 and use that as the controller |
Answer: | No. That will not work. |
Question: | Do these grips have an off switch |
Answer: | It has a temperature selector with 6 positions. Off plus 5 different warming temperatures. The switch has a button that works sequentially, and 5 led indicator. So you have to press the button for the first time for the 1st warming position and continue pressing it for the next ones. The amount of led turned on indicates the temperature level. It also comes with the fuse box. The box is pretty complete, even including the materials to fix the temperature selector box to the handle bar. |
Question: | Do these fit fine over the throttle piece? The throttle side on my bike has a plastic piece which this would have to fit over |
Answer: | It fit over mine. It was VERY tight and I worried about damaging the grip when I put it on. I tried to slide it on dry and wasn't able to get it on. I then put a very thin coat of dish soap inside the grip and was able to work it on. These grips are great. I won't have another bike without them. |
Question: | What is the max current this grip set draws? If I missed that in the specs..my apologies. Thanks |
Answer: | my pleasure. for what it's worth i've installed probably 15 sets of these bikemaster grips on various buells and other bikes and for the money they are the best i've ever used. heat regulator very accurate, grips very comfy and well designed and the wiring connections are robust and top quality. draw is from 1.5 amps on low to 3 amps on high. you'll love them if you buy them |

Question: | Do they shut off when the machine is shut off or do you have the remember to hit a switch each time |

Question: | Are replacement parts available |
Answer: | Yes, you can reach out to Heat Demon (Symtec) for replacement parts |
Question: | What size handlebars will these fit? I am purchasing a Moose dual gasser and was wondering if this would fit the twist throttle |
Answer: | It won't fit with a twist throttle, you would have to get the heat element only. |
Question: | Need a defrost for windshield |
Answer: | The quad zone kit has 2 extra spots for additional heaters. I don’t see why you couldn’t have a windshield heater if it has the rca style plug in |
Question: | Will the quad zone controller fit on the handle bar that has a windshield already attached? if not, where to attach on a grizzly |
Answer: | I am not sure. I mounted the controller to my winch toggle switch with the bracket provided. I didn't care for the plastic handle bar mount bracket. I am not sure how much room the windshield restricts the handle bars but I still had plenty of room after mounting to the winch toggle bracket. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone ever tried putting them on a snow thrower? I'm concerned current draw will exceed available power |
Answer: | i have done a few and if your blower has 7/8th bars the left will fit but the right will not as it is larger ID for twist grip applications. these only draw about 3 amps max on high so a normal blower alternator has enough power to do the job. |
Question: | Will these fit a 1999 polaris |
Answer: | if the handlebar or bar ends are 7/8th inch OD they will. and they're easy to wire and work really great. i do recommend you put a little cover or sandwich bag on the controller if you are going to ride in rain all day or thru streams, etc. they don't take well to repeated dousings. |
Question: | Are both grips 7/8" or is one of them |
Answer: | both grips are the same size (at least mine were?) |
Question: | Will this fit on a Honda Rancher |
Answer: | If your bars are 7/8 diameter then yes |

NOTE:
1. Please note that the temperature can not be adjusted if the wire connected wrong.
2. Since the electric heating handles use a rubber integral forming process, don‘t over twist the left handle when installation. Doing so will cause the electric heating wires to shift.
3. As to the model with the balancer, the balancer should be spaced out of the handle in order to avoid squeezing the handle when installing the balancer. If the position of the
balancer can’t be adjusted, use a shim between the balancer and handle. Being too close to the handle will lead to abnormal damages, such as making it difficult to toggle the switch, the
electric heating wires squeezed out of the handle and so on.
4. If the left handle slide on the steel tube, apply some glue to the inner bore of the left handle to fix it. Never apply the glue to the steel tube, because doing so will allow the glue to
penetrate into the switch, and make it unable to be toggled. Bear in mind that the glue will be pushed along the bar and may pool if you use too much.

Question: | I have a 2007 polaris sportsman 700. Will these fit? Also, where does the controller mount and how big is it? Thanks |
Answer: | If the handlebar is the same diameter it will fit. Most likely 2007 Sportsman handlebar is the same as my 2010. The controller clamps on to the right side of the handlebar, next to the throttle. It is about the size of a deck of cards. |
Question: | Has anyone ordered these from kinney's cycles (through amazon) and is the controller grey as shown in the picture or black like the demon model |
Answer: | I sell them in my Amazon store and they are black |
Question: | My son races atvs. His fingers freeze due cold and wet conditions...so what happens if these get wet? He drives threw low streams |
Answer: | There will not be an issue when they get wet. Ours still work fantastic. Just an fyi that his palms will get warm/hot and the top of his hands may still be cold. Best when paired with something to block the wind. |
Question: | does any one know how many amp these use on the hightest setting |
Answer: | According to Symtec's site: "Maximum 40 Watts (20 Watts per grip) at 14 Volts"This doesn't appear to include the thumb warmer, which I would assume would be around 10 watts (but that's a guess). If you want to know for certain, I'd suggest calling them at ( 8 8 8 ) 5 7 1 - 9 1 9 3. |
