| Answer: | I don't assume it would be any different from any other drives. Consumption for a SATA 7200 shouldn't ever exceed 20 Watts. It's usually in the range of 6-8 idle and 8-10 in read/write mode. If you are making the calculation for a power supply unit just account for it as a 20W to be safe and your calculation should be adequate. |

| Answer: | I'm on with Seagate RIGHT NOW and they are telling me that Platimum Micro is not on their list of of OEM resellers and thus there is 0 warranty through Seagate. If bought through a bonafide OEM distributor, THEN and ONLY then do you get 5 years. If you read the Warranty section here, it says Amazon gives you 30 days to return, but in the product warranty link which launches a PDF and says SEAGATE WARRANTY, which is not just erroneous, it's a LIE! Worse, the warranty time stated is 2 years, not 5! But wait there's more: Amazon/Platinum gave me ALL my money back! Yes, I got both drives FREE. So should I be upset? You could see this purchase as an unlimited time since I paid nothing. But I'm concerned that Amazon credited me without me asking for a return. Are these drives defective? I don't care about the cost. I care that the drive is good and if it dies in 5 years, I can get another. Well I certainly can even 8 years from now because mine ended up free. WHICH as Seagate and I are discussing right now, why would Amazon credit me without me asking? Were they afraid I'd find all this out? There is a real problem here. My SN is registered to Platimun Micro which means they can't forward their 5 Warranty to me or YOU! There is a lot of ILLEGAL activity going here that Amazon and Platinum Micro are party to.
