I store a few times for 20 min, then covered the sink in foil and put a few pans on top to keep the heat in and let it set for two hours or so! I rinsed, washed in cold water in my washer with a little powder soap and the cushions look great! If you want a black color, you likely will need to dye twice, maybe three times. The longer you leave it in the dye, and the hotter you can keep it over time, the better it will set.

The heat of the kliegs combined with sweat and unusually blatant fibbing may result in continuous rivulets of dye running down your brow and cheeks, for as long as heat and the pressure of "just following orders" are applied.

Answer:	The website suggests washing your machine with the hottest setting and some old white towels and bleach. Washing machine was fine after 1 run.

Answer:	Yes. But I tested the color with the corner of a paper towel after Googling the instructions on their website. If the paper towel doesn’t look black, add more dye. I had to use 3 bottles of dye to do half a washing machine full of faded Black slacks for work. It worked well but sometimes too much diluted water. Add more dye and it’s like INK! Perfection. Just use the Rit Colorfast after to set it!

Answer:	About the same as a Sharpie marker ... starts fading noticeably with each "whites" wash cycle (hot wash with chlorine bleach). Should survive better in cold or warm wash without chlorine bleach.

Answer:	I don’t think so. I recommend using chubbiee no-iron kids clothing labels for permeant use. At least they will not stain your garments lol.

Answer:	I used these on two black hoodies with bleach spots, but the black of the pens was darker than the sort of faded black of the sweatshirt. The white spots are now just black spots. I'm hoping after a bunch of washes, it'll fade and not be so noticeable.

Question:	Do I really need to use the color stay after using the Dye
Answer:	Not sure how much you will need but since there is a polyester blend mixed in they won't be completely black, they'll be like a very dark grey purple but still looks good. I did Polyester blend curtains (the really thick ones), they are something like 8'x6' and I used one bottle to about 4 gallons of water if that helps.

Answer:	I don’t see why not. It didn’t work for me but I was using a synthetic fabric which I was later told requires a special type of dye. If your canvas is cotten there should be no problem

Answer:	Velvet is a polyester, so sounds like the polyester version would get the best results.

Question:	DO I NEED SODA ASH
Answer:	Very simple to prepare...instructions in packaging. I simply mixed with warm water and used from a squirt bottle on pre-folded shirts ready to dye.

Answer:	Tracy. If you plan on vat dying look into getting the big bottles of powdered dye either from Jacquard direct or from Dharma trading. These little bottles are only meant to make 2 cups of dye at the correct concentration. Yes you should prewash with a good detergent like syntropol or Dharmas pro detergent. Then soak your rugs in a solution of 1 c soda ash per gallon of water (can use super washing soda, it's the same thing and cheaper) If you have hard water you may need a water softener like Calgon. If you are using dark colors you'll need pickling salt and urea to make your dye solution. The darker the color the more Salt. Gloves are a given.... but I suggest drop clothes and a good vinyl apron (cut one from an old felt backed plastic table cloth) Remember these dyes require a 24 hours processing time after you've dyed your item. put them in garbage bags and set them somewhere warm. Then you can rinse and wash.

Answer:	Most commercially-available fabric dyes need 1) immersion in 2) hot water with 3) a mordant such as salt and 4) time for the dye to bond with the fibers. A front loader uses far less water than a top-loader; it doesn't fill a tub with water like a top loader does, and just doesn't give the fabric enough time soaking evenly in a volume of water with heat to set the dye.
Question:	can orange dye be used on orange velvet chair
Answer:	If the coat is made of cotton it will work fine. It will work with other materials as well be will not be as dark as with cotton. And no it did not stain my washing machine.

Answer:	You can try this on outdoor cushion covers. However, this works best on 100% cotton, linen, ramie and rayon; wool, silk and polyester/cotton mixes will dye to lighter shades. Answer:	No. Velvet doesnt hold this die well unless its cotton. These dyes do terrible with synthetics.

Dissolve Dye

Dissolve dye in 500ml of warm water.

Dissolve Salt

Put 6L of warm water into a bowl and stir in 250g of Salt.

Add Dye & Stir

It's time to play

• Submerge damp fabric into the dye and leave for 1h
• Rinse well with cold water until the water runs clear
• To finish, wash clothes with detergent and always read full instructions before use

Factors that affect color results

The color result will depend on the different colors mixed. For example, dyeing a blue shirt with a Tulip Red DYLON Hand Dye, will give a purple result. Please see the color mixing guide on the left.

The type of fabric

Natural fabrics like wool, silk, cotton, linen and viscose are perfect for dyeing. Synthetic fabrics like polyester and nylon won’t dye. Mixed fabrics will achieve a lighter shade of the color.

The weight of fabric

One sachet is enough to dye 250g of fabric to the full shade or up to 500g of fabric to lighter shades. Use multiple packs to dye larger quantities.
