12 best permanent clothing dye
A periotome is a dental instrument used by dental professionals for periodontal procedures. It is a specialized tool designed for the delicate task of cutting the periodontal ligament, which connects a tooth to the surrounding bone. This instrument is an essential part of a dentist's toolkit, especially when performing procedures such as tooth extraction or dental implant placement.
Key features and information about periotomes include:
Purpose: Periotomes are primarily used for atraumatic tooth extraction. They help to minimize damage to the surrounding bone and soft tissues, making the extraction process more comfortable for the patient and facilitating quicker healing.
Design: Periotomes have a thin, sharp blade at the working end. This blade is designed to slide between the tooth and the surrounding bone, gently severing the periodontal ligament.
Materials: Periotomes are typically made of high-quality stainless steel, which ensures durability, corrosion resistance, and easy sterilization.
Variations: There are various types and sizes of periotomes available, allowing dental professionals to choose the most suitable instrument for a specific procedure and tooth anatomy.
Technique: When using a periotome, the dentist gently inserts it into the periodontal ligament space, moving it in a rocking motion to cut the ligament fibers. This technique minimizes trauma and helps preserve the bone structure.
Benefits: Periotomes offer several advantages, including reduced post-operative pain, faster healing, and less tissue damage compared to traditional extraction methods.
Maintenance: Proper cleaning and sterilization of periotomes are essential to ensure patient safety and instrument longevity.
In summary, periotomes are specialized dental instruments used for atraumatic tooth extractions and other periodontal procedures. Their design and technique help minimize trauma to the surrounding tissues, making them a valuable tool in dental practices.

User questions & answers
Question: | anyone have pics of finished products of evening blue and royal blue and nayvy blue |
Answer: | I accidentally bought this instead of the all purpose dye, so I decided to test it before returning. It did dye the cotton. I’m not sure how well it will hold up, especially given the large amount of dye I used compared to normal, but it did appear to work |
Question: | Wil this help me run for office |
Answer: | I used this on couch covers from the 1980's. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what they were made of. NO dye worked until this one. The dye took beautifully. My cushions went from a medium/light brown, to deep charcoal grey. I can still see a touch of brown in the final color, but I will dye again to get a darker color. I don't have a pot big enough, so I filled my sink with super hot water from the tap, and then poured a gallon of water in from a tea kettle. I stirred in the dye, and added *already wet* fabric (more even dye distribution). I store a few times for 20 min, then covered the sink in foil and put a few pans on top to keep the heat in and let it set for two hours or so! I rinsed, washed in cold water in my washer with a little powder soap and the cushions look great! If you want a black color, you likely will need to dye twice, maybe three times. The longer you leave it in the dye, and the hotter you can keep it over time, the better it will set. |
Question: | How many yards of fabric can I dye with each bottle? I can't seem to find this information |
Answer: | It will not cover the stains. Best Solution. Completely bleach product -if it is one solid color-and then dye. My white blouse turned out beautifully. |
Question: | Can this work on glasses |
Answer: | According to RIT website. 2.5 cups Graphite 1/4 cup Racing Red 2 tablespoons Sapphire Blue 3 gallons Water Makes BLACK |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work as intended - on 100% cotton |
Answer: | The picture of cans of Evening Blue is on Amazon. I haven't seen the picture of Navy blue but let see if I can get that for you. |
Question: | Just curious. How dark does this dye actually get? Is it even remotely close to black |
Answer: | Not if you apply RIT "Just For Men" to your sparsely coiffed scalp, right before standing under very hot lights and telling outrageous whoppers to the press. The heat of the kliegs combined with sweat and unusually blatant fibbing may result in continuous rivulets of dye running down your brow and cheeks, for as long as heat and the pressure of "just following orders" are applied. |
Question: | I have a light blue table cloth that has stains that I cannot remove, would this dye cover the stains |
Answer: | With the whole bottle 2-3 lbs. I use it for yarn |
Question: | Is "graphite" the new black |
Answer: | I think what you're asking is if this can fix dye to the plastic frames of glasses. Rit DyeMore is supposedly great for dying plastics. Below is a link with step-to-step instructions for dying Legos which should also work for plastic frames. Hope that helps!https://www.ritstudio.com/2015/04/09/how-to-dye-legos-with-new-rit-dye-more/Also, to the mean answers: stupid is as stupid does. This question was actually perfectly legit. |

Rit DyeMore Advanced Liquid Dye for Polyester
A dye made specifically for synthetic fabrics, which includes anything with 35% or more polyester, acrylic or acetate. Each little bottle packs a colorful punch and is ready to deliver a custom touch to garments new and old, household items, and more. It even works on 3D printed items, lacrosse sticks, wigs and most plastics. Plus, just like our original formula, Rit DyeMore is non-toxic and safe for sewer and septic systems.
Important Note: Due to the complexity of dyeing synthetics, you must use Rit DyeMore with the stovetop method to maintain an almost boiling temperature for the duration of your dyeing. Accordingly: you cannot use Rit DyeMore to dye anything that won’t fit into a pot on your stove and you cannot use your washer because the machine won’t be able to achieve the water temperature needed for Rit DyeMore to penetrate the fabric.

User questions & answers
Question: | how long do these markers last |
Answer: | The website suggests washing your machine with the hottest setting and some old white towels and bleach. Washing machine was fine after 1 run. |
Question: | I need my boy's name on his t-shirt permanently. Will this work |
Answer: | Yes. But I tested the color with the corner of a paper towel after Googling the instructions on their website. If the paper towel doesn’t look black, add more dye. I had to use 3 bottles of dye to do half a washing machine full of faded Black slacks for work. It worked well but sometimes too much diluted water. Add more dye and it’s like INK! Perfection. Just use the Rit Colorfast after to set it! |
Question: | can these be used to cover up bleach stains on a black hoodie |
Answer: | Yes you can. I have used the dye on both black jeans and black Dockers and they turned out really nice! |
Question: | How many washings will it last |
Answer: | It probably depends on the fabric and the mordant. My experience on a cotton shirt was that it lost some color through the first few washings. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have about 20 king and queen sized white bed sheets, 60% cotton/40% polyester blend. will this dye them permanent black? how much dye will i need |
Answer: | About the same as a Sharpie marker ... starts fading noticeably with each "whites" wash cycle (hot wash with chlorine bleach). Should survive better in cold or warm wash without chlorine bleach. |
Question: | Can this be used to dye white canvas drop clothes |
Answer: | I don’t think so. I recommend using chubbiee no-iron kids clothing labels for permeant use. At least they will not stain your garments lol. |
Question: | Will it work on velvet |
Answer: | I used these on two black hoodies with bleach spots, but the black of the pens was darker than the sort of faded black of the sweatshirt. The white spots are now just black spots. I'm hoping after a bunch of washes, it'll fade and not be so noticeable. |
Question: | Can this be use on Plastic Fabric as well |
Answer: | Zero washes! Completely runs with any water! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do I really need to use the color stay after using the Dye |
Answer: | Not sure how much you will need but since there is a polyester blend mixed in they won't be completely black, they'll be like a very dark grey purple but still looks good. I did Polyester blend curtains (the really thick ones), they are something like 8'x6' and I used one bottle to about 4 gallons of water if that helps. |
Question: | Sunbleached clothes, will it fix this |
Answer: | I don’t see why not. It didn’t work for me but I was using a synthetic fabric which I was later told requires a special type of dye. If your canvas is cotten there should be no problem |
Question: | Will this strip all color from a garment? I'm trying to fix an item that was made to look vintage |
Answer: | Velvet is a polyester, so sounds like the polyester version would get the best results. |
Question: | How often do I need to use the DYE Fixitive on the same article of clothing?Don't want my black jeans to fade so do I need to do this before each wash |
Answer: | I would highly recommend this dye for cotton fabrics. You CAN use it on cotton/poly blend, but remember that the more poly in the blend, the less dye will bind and the lighter the color will be. Hope this helps! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do I prepare this product: washing machine, spot dye, or other? Thank You |
Answer: | I did not use the color stay after using the dye. FYI - Dye is only a brightener, not a dye. |
Question: | I plan on using this brand of dye (assorted colors) to dye 100% cotton rugs. Can you tell me what other products I might need to buy |
Answer: | *You have to dye/color the clothing first. You have to follow the directions completely in order to get the color you want. That includes having the water very hot for the dying of the clothing. Then you'll want to use the Rit Dye Fixative to set the color in the garment. |
Question: | How colorfast is this dye? Can the resulting fabric/clothes be washed with warm water |
Answer: | Sets the colors, not strip. Keeps deep color from bleeding & fading. I used this on Cranberry tablecloth. |
Question: | How much liquid dye does each container make |
Answer: | I don’t know if this would work on black jeans, but I do know that if you wash your black jeans inside out, they will keep their color longer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | DO I NEED SODA ASH |
Answer: | Very simple to prepare...instructions in packaging. I simply mixed with warm water and used from a squirt bottle on pre-folded shirts ready to dye. |
Question: | Is this close to navy |
Answer: | Tracy. If you plan on vat dying look into getting the big bottles of powdered dye either from Jacquard direct or from Dharma trading. These little bottles are only meant to make 2 cups of dye at the correct concentration. Yes you should prewash with a good detergent like syntropol or Dharmas pro detergent. Then soak your rugs in a solution of 1 c soda ash per gallon of water (can use super washing soda, it's the same thing and cheaper) If you have hard water you may need a water softener like Calgon. If you are using dark colors you'll need pickling salt and urea to make your dye solution. The darker the color the more Salt. Gloves are a given.... but I suggest drop clothes and a good vinyl apron (cut one from an old felt backed plastic table cloth) Remember these dyes require a 24 hours processing time after you've dyed your item. put them in garbage bags and set them somewhere warm. Then you can rinse and wash. |
Question: | Has anybody tried this dye in a front loading washing machine |
Answer: | I have washed the shirts that I have Dyed in warm water and the color has remained bright and Distinct. |
Question: | Would this work well to dye a lab coat? Also, will it stain the washing machine |
Answer: | It can make a lot of dye! I found a recipe card on the Jacqard website. It shows how much of each powder to make a certain color. Very cool!! For a 4-6 oz bottle, you only need about 1-2 teaspoons of dye. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use this to tie dye |
Answer: | No, but you do need a little bit of salt (a tablespoon or two). |
Question: | How many pieces will this be good for |
Answer: | Yes it is. |
Question: | Could I dye outdoor cushion covers with this dye |
Answer: | Most commercially-available fabric dyes need 1) immersion in 2) hot water with 3) a mordant such as salt and 4) time for the dye to bond with the fibers. A front loader uses far less water than a top-loader; it doesn't fill a tub with water like a top loader does, and just doesn't give the fabric enough time soaking evenly in a volume of water with heat to set the dye. |
Question: | can orange dye be used on orange velvet chair |
Answer: | If the coat is made of cotton it will work fine. It will work with other materials as well be will not be as dark as with cotton. And no it did not stain my washing machine. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Which will give darker black, velvet black dye or black azabache dye for black jeans |
Answer: | Absolutely! |
Question: | How well would this work on 100% Egyptian cotton? Going from white to black |

Question: | I have a pair of navy khakis I want to dye black, can I do that without a washer |
Answer: | You can try this on outdoor cushion covers. However, this works best on 100% cotton, linen, ramie and rayon; wool, silk and polyester/cotton mixes will dye to lighter shades. The color result will depend on the different colors mixed. For example, dyeing a blue shirt with a Tulip Red DYLON Hand Dye, will give a purple result. Please see the color mixing guide on the left.
The type of fabric
Natural fabrics like wool, silk, cotton, linen and viscose are perfect for dyeing. Synthetic fabrics like polyester and nylon won’t dye. Mixed fabrics will achieve a lighter shade of the color.
The weight of fabric
One sachet is enough to dye 250g of fabric to the full shade or up to 500g of fabric to lighter shades. Use multiple packs to dye larger quantities.
