branding iron just need heating with open fire about 5-7 minute. recommend use the gas stove. For the first time, please test on the discarded materials. Answer:	The metal tends to expand the first few times each nib is used. In my experience, I have used a pair of needle nose plyers to unscrew and remove the frozen nib. Be gentle, make sure you are turning in the correct direction.

Answer:	I've tried it on bone and antler. It works well enough but is considerably harder to work with than wood.

Answer:	the sponge is to get wet and sits in the little stand. it is to wipe the tip or i should say rub the tip on to clean. i just use a wet rag. the tip is so hot that it is actually nice to have the little tray to lean the tip on.
