Answer:	Same here. The stones or glass rocks are just decorative. The glass sparkles when the fire is lit and is a colorful cover when it is off. For example if you chose red glass it would look a bit like embers when the fire is on.
Question:	Do the birch colored logs stay white or do they turn dark
Answer:	Mine have turned dark where yellow flame touches them but there's quite a bit of light color left - it seems to make them look more natural with some scorch marks. If you have a lot of flame then they'll probably get darker.

Answer:	We used these in an outdoor gas fire pit. They look great and perform well. Looking to add them to current logs in our indoor fireplace. But we put some lava rock and colored stone between these logs and the gas pipe. The different cooling temps of these ceramic logs and gas pipe may cause them to crack.

Question:	My gas connection is on the left side of the fire place when I am looking at the fire place, can I hook this up? it should have it on Left side as wel
Answer:	Ours is on the left side as well. There is a connection hose and I can not swear that it doesn't run from one side to the other, in which case, it would be covered by the lava rock. Or it could be that the valve can be flipped around. Apparently, it was not a huge deal, because I do not remember it being a problem.
Question:	How do you turn it off without burning your hand to touch the valve so close to the unit
Answer:	The heat is not that hot, locate to logs not the valve. I thought the same but is not an issue to turn off by hand. A key turn off would be the best option but could not install. Once I used the shut off valve with the logs was not an issue with the heat. Great logs looks like real logs burning but not the hazard of the heat near the side of the logs.
Question:	Can you please provide the exact measurements? I don't see them listed anywhere. 18 Inch is not enough of a description
Answer:	I am unable to measure the logs since we are currently using them in our fireplace. However, the largest log is 18" long and about 4-5" in diameter. The remaining logs decrease in diameter to create the pile for your stack. They have stacked nicely in our fireplace. We are pleased with the set. I hope this has helped.

Question:	We have a double sided fireplace (i.e. you can see thru the fireplace into another room). Does this unit look good from the back side also
Answer:	We only ordered the logs and yes to get the effect you have to have the special pan.We ended up calling a fireplace company and they installed this special burner pan and then they put sand in the bottom and this kit also comes with the fluffy little embers that make it glow. This is the brand that they used and maybe you can find it and do the installation yourself. We were able to use the logs that we ordered here and the fireplace people said this brand was a really good brand of logs. The brand of the hearth kit is hearth & home technologies fireside burner/hearth kit. It came with the pan burner sand and grate and fluffy coals. Good luck maybe you can find this online also. the model numbers on our paper are MHK18NG,MHK24NG (for 18 inch rear of fireplace) and STMHK18NG and STMHK24NG. ( for 24 inch rear of fireplace). Our fireplace took the 18 inch length. Good luck

Answer:	Hi. The logs, when stacked according to the directions for ideal airflow, are flat on the back so, no. It doesn’t look good from both sides. Also the slope of the ember tray wouldn’t view well from the back. Pretty happy with their product though. Hope you find the right one for your setup.
Question:	doesn't stay lit; goes out in 30 minutes. not good. What is going wrong
Answer:	This particular log set comes as a "Match Lit" kit, which means that the only way to light it is to use a match while turning on the gas with your key valve. To turn the unit on using your wall switch requires purchasing a switchable auto pilot safety kit. This type of valve can be obtained directly from an RH Peterson dealer and can be installed after the fact if lighting with a match/gas lighter becomes inconvenient.
