Answer:	Yellow works fine on plain black. So does white, pale blue, and pink. They are pretty much interchangeable when it comes to contrast with plain black. On fabric prints, you have to choose one of the four previously mentioned colors that offers the greatest contrast to the colors in the print. That is why I keep the aforementioned four colors (as well as red and navy) on hand in my sewing room.
