| Answer: | For the most part it will do ok with plated gold as long as it is thinly plated, but with heavily plated gold you will have to make a deep scratch an put the probe directly on the scratch. The best thing to do is to scratch first, then use the probe, then finally do the acid test as a secondary back up after wiping the residue of the probe off. It seems like the companies making fake jewelry are heavily plating the fake jewelry in hopes of fooling the acid test and the probe, which is why you should scratch deeply in an area that isn't noticeable, if you're testing 10k, use the 14kt acid, it will stain the 10k a little but the result will be far more reliable. If it's fake the 14k acid will eat it up, where as the 10kt will not. Copper can fool 10k gold I got burned on that once, which is why I went straight for the 14k acid. |

Method of operation.
1. Turn on the power supply, the power indicator light is on, the Tester starts to warm up, after a few seconds the Tester can be used.
2、Place the diamond to be measured into the appropriate hole in the support tray, with the table surface facing up. Diamonds that have been mounted do not need to be placed in the holes of the tray, can be held by hand.
3、Dim several light-emitting diodes according to the weight of the diamond being measured and the temperature of the measuring site.
4, remove the probe sheath, hold the Tester , the right index finger touching the back cover of the Tester conductive plate; make the probe vertically and gently touch the top surface of the diamond to be measured.
5, carefully watching the Tester feedback, if the remaining yellow light-emitting diodes lit, when lit up to 9 diodes, and accompanied by a beeping sound which indicates that the diamond being tested is real. Otherwise, less than 9 diodes are lit and the Tester does not emit a beeping sound, it indicates a fake diamond or a counterfeit.
Repair and Maintenance:
1, The Tester probes are very sensitive and must be protected with special care, and should be sheathed when not in use.
2, The reserve indicator light is dark, which indicates that the battery will be exhausted, the battery should be replaced in time.

| Answer: | Hello - This device can only detect authentic diamonds (loud beep, beep, beep) or metals (fast buzzing beeps). Keep in mind that you MUST allow the "lamp" to power up and you MUST be holding the item with your fingers. This device will not determine genuine gemstones (i.e. rubies or sapphires) nor distinctions in metals (i.e. gold, silver or steel). So it will not determine if rubies, sapphires or turquoise are real. The only true way to do that is through a reputable jeweler. They have devices (light refractors) and experience to make those determinations but it may cost you for them to provide that information. I hope this helps. |

| Answer: | Hello - This has not happened to me before. I would first try disconnecting the battery to try and reset it. Then look closely at the tip. There may be a flake of metal caught in the tip. Take a toothbrush to try and clean the tip. Remember that the sensitivity wheel needs to be calibrated prior to testing anything. To do this, roll the wheel until it is at maximum (red lights and beeping). Then slowly roll the wheel back to the highest green level. Make sure the tip is not touching anything. Good Luck !!! |
