The top piece is welded onto the lobster clasp with a very cheap plastic like metal that bends and breaks relatively easily. And the lobster clasps while convenient are made of the same cheap material. I replaced the clasps with real metal ones, but the welded end piece still broke when I used them for jewelry, etc. |

| Answer: | Some charms already come with a lobster clasp in which you can just draw back the little lever to open the clasp to then close over any one of the links wherever you would like to place your charm. However many charms don't already come with the clasp. But you would likely want a clasp of some sort, or if not, you can use the "jump ring" or ring that hopefully does come with the charm. In this case, though, you would need to know only the basics in jewelry crafting. You would just need one tool, a "needle nose" to open the ring on the charm, just enough to get it around whichever link you would like, and then using the "needle nose" to close the ring back up making sure the best you can, that the ring is touching itself again, so that your charm doesn't fall off. If you should purchase a few lobster clasps, you could do the same thing here, only open the ring on your charm with your needle nose, and put it through the little hole on the lobster clasp, close the ring up tightly again, and now you have made your charm with a lobster clasp, making it more versatile! Meaning, this way, charms with clasps can be taken on and off easily and moved around the links on your charm bracelet. If you just close a ring around a link on your bracelet, it's just a bit more difficult to take it off and on, unless you are already very practiced jeweler and you just don't mind doing that. However, the ring would eventually weaken, if done too often. I do make jewelry for a charity, so if none of this makes sense, feel free to reply, and I will try to help further. But, if you want to keep it simple, though it could be limiting, stick with charms that already come with lobster clasps, and just open the clasps with their little levers, and put the charm where you want on any link!
