Answer:	Ours went down to -10 F after we plugged it in. We keep it at 0 F now. We had it set at "8" initially, but keep it at "6" now, so it could probably get colder than-10 F.

Answer:	These types of freezers tend to need defrosting about every 3 months. I take everything out of it and put it all in a big cooler or our inside freezer. Since we keep ours in the garage, I don't worry too much about making a mess. I turn it off, open the door, then use a hair dryer to quickly defrost it. Starting at the top shelf, I use the dryer to loosen up the frost and ice. Then I work my way down the freezer. Be certain to keep the hair dryer away from any water. Once you get it started, it goes pretty quickly. The whole process takes about 15 minutes and it's really fun to see the frost start to melt then fall off. Just pcikup the chunks from the floor and toss them in some type of container. Easy peasy!

Other than that, we are VERY pleased with it !!!

More hygienic (thus, less disgusting) than storing frozen feeder rodents (or raw poultry and other meat) with any of your family's foodstuffs that won't be cooked before they are eaten!
