Question:	It says max size pan is about 10", is this due to size of the element or is the stainless trim sticking up? I would like to use a large stock pot
Answer:	I mostly use a Curtis Stone Quantanium cookware set. The largest fry pan is 12" and the bottom is 9".....If I make a grilled cheese sandwich I put two slices of bread if they fit depending on slice size and cook an egg, all at the same time. The entire pan heats and cooks well, and is fast. I make the entire sandwich in the same time that I used to take my Samsung glass top range burner to just heat up. When you see the pan size listed for use, remember it means the size of the 'bottom' heating surface of the pan. I use a 14" wok induction ready with an 8" bottom that works great. The user manual states on page 3 "Examples of usable pans.....with a bottom of 4.75" to 10.25"......" No trim sticks up, the entire surface of the unit is flat, although the hood, or shield, that sticks off the back to cover the air vent may not be perfectly flat with the glass cooktop.
Question:	Will this unit allow you to lift a pan to flip food without having to reset the temp controls
Answer:	This thing can detect whether there is an "induction ready" (simply magnetic) pot or pan on it. If you lift a pan, it immediately beeps to warn you that whatever is on top of it is not "induction ready" (since it's no longer there.) As soon as you get done and put it back down, the unit resumes as if nothing had happened. So! If you do that, you won't have to reset anything. I have no idea whether this is hard on the electronics in the unit (I would guess that it is not) or what the manuf would say about it, but the technical answer to your question is yes, you can. On the other hand, if you turn it off before lifting the pot or pan, you WILL lose whatever settings you were using. There is no way to pause it or put it in standby.
Question:	Will this work with a pot 13" diameter
Answer:	The heating coil appears to be only 4" across, so will only heat the center ~4.5". Larger pots (`10"?) of water will heat and boil, Cast iron frying pans are cold on the outside (crispy bacon on the inside and raw on the outside. The fragile glass top is only 11" X 11". our was broken with a very slight drop if a glass onto it (glass did not break) and Avantco would not warranty it for the small heating area or for the broken glass.. Top is not ceramic
