User questions & answers
Question: | hello, any part is alluminium |
Answer: | stem, crankarms, and rims. Everything else was steel or plastic. Its my first fat tire bike. Taken on 2 rides so far and have no complaints. |
Question: | Will this bike rust |
Answer: | I have owned mine for about a year in my garage. No rust yet. If you leave it in the rain for three years, yes it will rust like anything medal will. But it has a good paint job. |
Question: | how much it weighs |
Answer: | I bought my Dolomite years ago when the Fatbike trend was starting to get widespread. I already had a single speed Mongoose Beast, and it was the obvious next step on a low budget. Both bikes are extremely heavy, but here's how my Dolomite breaks down: Front wheel complete is 11.6 lbs. Rear wheel is 13.4 lbs. That is 25 lbs just for the wheels(tires, tubes, spokes, hubs, disc) The rest of the frame weighs 23.9 lbs (frame, fork, crankset, handlebars, seat post and saddle) That is a lot of bike at 49 lbs. |
Question: | Can this bike hold me if im 370lbs |
Answer: | yes, these are very beefy bikes . We have 3 and My buddy is 6'4 and well over 350. We use them as cruisers. So yes, they should have no problem with your weight. They are fairly heavy bikes to begin with |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the wheel dropout width,is it 170mm? Will it fit a fat bike electric conversion kit |
Answer: | This bike will work with 170mm axle 'Fat Bike' rear hub motors. I have 2 of these, one with a Magic Pie Vector, (195mm axle) and the other with a 12t MAC geared hub motor (170mm axle). The forks will pull in a little but that is ok. Rear break caliper only needed a 5mm washer on the rear most bolt to properly realign after being pulled in for the 170mm motor axle. The frame triangle also easily fits a 'Large Triangle Battery' (14s9p) from EM3EV. |
Question: | I'm a big guy, can the tires handle 350lb man? All other bikes appear flat tire when I sattle |
Answer: | I'm 6'ft2in and about 360lbs. I have a Mongoose Beast, the earliest version of this bike (same frame, no gears, coaster brake), and it handles me without much difficulty. You will need to be careful with the tire pressure -- I see way too many people try to put 20psi or more and pop the tire off the rim, and it was hard to trust that 8-11psi is the right range. The tires will definitely feel soft with a big guy on it, but that's the nature of having 4in or bigger tires. You can buy tires with a harder sidewall like the Origin8 Devist-8er, but after I figured out the right pressure for the originals (about 10psi for me), I decided to run the cheapies for as long as they would go. Still going strong. Oh, also -- if you're tall as well, you can get a 40cm seat stem to replace the original 25-30cm one, made the ride experience much nicer. |
Question: | Does the 18 medium mean this is a bike for a smaller, medium sized person? To what does this refer |
Answer: | I'm 5"-11" / (71") with a 32" inseam, and weigh 210 Lbs. The Bike fit's me just fine. The 18" refers to the Frame Size of the Bike. Which according to the chart provides a transition between the Medium 17" Frame and the Large 19" Frame Bikes. The Frame sizing as I look at the chart's, are all based on a persons Height and Inseam. You can Click on the Bike Buying Guide, then look the Chart's over. To see what's suggested for your Height and Inseam. http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=5801315011You can look at this Model of the same Bike but with a 17" Frame. It has a lot of feed back and answered questions that should help you out. http://www.amazon.com/Mongoose-Mens-Malus-Tire-Silver/dp/B00TYB8Q7A?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_7&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER |
Question: | What is the difference between the mongoose men's malus fat tire bike and the mongoose men's dolomite fat tire bike |
Answer: | The malus is the newest iteration of the mongoose fat bikes. Besides better build quality on the malus, the largest difference is weight. The dolomite uses some of the heaviest fat bike tires made. The malus uses private labelled panaracer fat b nimble tires. On a fat bike , tire weight is critical in handling and acceleration. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this bike work for a woman who is 5'3"? I've read comments where the adult 26" wheels bike is to big for most women |
Answer: | Bought bike for my wife who is 5’1” and fits her good |
Question: | What's the recommended weight limit |
Answer: | Weight shouldn't be an issue. The bikes don't have a set weight limit due to the testing done to meet industry standards. The bikes are tested at a variety of weights and forces and several factors determine how much weight a bike can hold such as tire psi, maintenance, and riding style. For more info on the testing, you can check out www.cpsc.gov. Thanks, Nicole |
Question: | What is the widest tire you can put on this bike |
Answer: | The tire on this model is a 24" x 2.6" size. For rider's safety, we suggest the originally tested components. A different size tire could cause the tire bead to not seat properly in the lip of the rim. Thanks, Nicole |

Question: | can you put on a maxxis holy roller 2.4 wide tire on these narrow stock rims ?..thank you |
Answer: | Absolutely lol- im 6'0 180 (just on the verge of being to small for me). It's great for your height |
Question: | Does the cargo bike come fully assembled |
Answer: | I believe 30cm is about 12 inches. In inches, From the hub of the pedals to where the seat inserts into the frame is about 22 inches. From the hub of the pedals to the lowest point on the frame, near the seat, is 15inches. From the hub of the pedals to the highest point on the frame, near the handlebars, and measuring north to south, is about 17 inches. From the bottom of the front fork to where the handlebars insert into the frame is about 23 inches. |
Question: | can you put on a maxxis holy roller 2.4 wide tire on these narrow stock rims ?..thank you |
Answer: | Yes, it does. I paid for the option to have it put together for me. The tech that came out did a great job! I definitely recommend this if you are not an expert at putting a bike together. :) |
Question: | Are the bags sold seperate |
Answer: | If you're 6'3" your frame size should be a minimum of 21 inches. This one is not specified so its likely a 18 or 19 inch frame which would make your knees come up too high when pedaling. |
