| Answer: | As of 2018... the baggage rule for Southwest is checked bags must have a maximum linear dimension of 62 inches. The linear dimension is found by adding a bags Length + Width + Height. The L+W+H measurements are taken from the "outside of the bag". In other words: Height is measured from the ground up including wheels) to the top edge of any handle. Unfortunately Amazon does a really poor job with their descriptions when it comes to their AmazonsBasics line of luggage. When shopping for luggage most manufacturers will list both the interior and exterior dimensions as well as the weight of the bag. (also important if you are trying to save weight when packing for a long trip since airlines like Southwest and American have a 50 lb weight limit) Amazon includes "some" dimensions in their luggage description... HOWEVER... its hard do say if they are giving you the "shipping" dimensions, the exterior dimensions or the interior dimensions. Be cautious if basing your decision to buy one of these suitcases is based on measurements given as a response to a question in this Q&A section. Unless the answer response is articulate and sounds accurate and informative you may end up having to return the item. Adding to the confusion... a lot of responses in the Q&A sections are of no value. (e.g. "I don't know I purchased the bag as a gift"... or "I don't know I only fly American" ...
