Answer:	Yes there is some tension if the rings cross in a certain way. Almost feels like you could damage it if you force it.

Answer:	The floppy chain is about the size of two quarters side by side. I worked with special needs children for several years and would recommend looking for a different fidget toy. It may not be physically possible to swallow it, but If your daughter is known to push those limits I would not recommend it.
