User questions & answers

Question: We are missing all of the instructions, what we need to know is were the 3 small connectors go
Answer: Only one board and six balls
Question: What is the launcher like? Is it possible to stay at all dry, or will it blast water all over the person launching it
Answer: Thank you for your question. I couldn't find where our item was listed as a 2 pack. What happens is 3rd party sellers may alter the detail page to fit their needs, which isn't always the right thing to do. I just verified that our item is listed correctly and it is sold as a single unit.
Question: The description says pump included yet all the reviews reference their own bike pumps. Which is it
Answer: You score by the number your ball lands on You’ll land on a 20 you Get 20 points you land on a 50 you get 50 points and so on
Question: does it come with a launcher
Answer: Yes, you should be able to. It’s not too heavy and seems to be well-made as well. It has a stand that allows it to stay upright on a table. It also can be hung on the wall. It Is well worth the price. I ordered another one for a Christmas present

Relationshipware StratoLauncher IV Ultimate Tilting Water Rocket Launcher + StratoFins Kit

Based on 45 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Our StratoLauncher IV Ultimate kit includes a water rocket launcher made of aluminum, SS, durable plastic, & brass parts fitted with a tilting ball head, pressure gauge, alloy quick release, StratoFins, & tank connector with valve (buy 2 gal. tank sprayer at local hardware store for $20). Assembly is quick & easy with no further adjustments required regardless if you use our StratoFins or your own homemade rocket or FTC (Fluorescent Tube Cover) rocket thanks to the screw-on nozzle. Employing a nozzle makes this a universal launcher for most any style water rocket & eliminates problems like bottles not fitting a launch tube, O-rings wearing out, or accidental launches. The restricted nozzle facilitates lift offs that are 3 – 6 times slower (depending on PSI) than typical water rocket launchers enabling you to see the blast off & yet the nozzle rocket will fly equal to or higher in altitude. Nozzle requires only 1 cup of water per launch for optimum performance. A 2 gal. tank will give you about 30 launches. StratoLauncher IV Ultimate ships unassembled with a QR code on the box label that you can scan with your smartphone to view a PDF containing assembly instructions, launch procedures, upgrade kits, videos, and future accessories. NO additional materials are required for assembly, but you will need an adjustable wrench (or a 14mm wrench), 4 & 5mm hex wrench, and Phillips head screwdriver. Our StratoLauncher IV Ultimate will enable you to propel a 2 liter soda bottle over 350 ft. into the sky using only water & compressed air from a bicycle pump. Fuel (water & air) is free allowing launches without expense. You control when the launch occurs by squeezing the black lever & releasing the lock at the end of the cable from a safe distance of 10 ft. & out of the splash zone. StratoLauncher IV comes in 3 models: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate. Any of them can be upgraded to add features & all come with a 125 PSI safety valve to prevent exploding bottles while pressurizing.

  • Easy to assemble metal water rocket launcher with a 125 PSI safety valve. Rocket will NOT fly straight without an aerodynamic nose cone made from a second soda bottle and use only 1 cup (237 ml) of water.
  • Kit includes StratoLauncher IV, StratoFins, ball head, pressure gauge, QConnect w/valve (tank not included). Watch assembly video on this listing at the end of the pictures.
  • StratoLauncher IV Ultimate will propel a 2 liter plastic (PET) soda pop bottle over 350 ft. in the sky. Watch the last minute of the assembly video for launch procedure.
  • Supports most .5L, 1L, 1.25L, 2L soda bottles @ air pressures as low as 15 PSI up to 120 PSI.
  • Kit is fully upgradeable, expandable, & can be accessorized into a complete launching system for STEM.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I use a higher tank spray
Answer: Not sure what you mean by a higher tank spray, unless you mean a higher than 2 gal. capacity, which is what we typically recommend. If that is the case, than yes you can use a higher volume tank or a taller tank or even a higher pressure tank sprayer. The restrictions are not on the tank sprayer, but on the amount of water that fills the rocket, which should be limited to about 1 cup of water. A 2 gal. tank sprayer will yield about 30 launches. The other restriction would be the max PSI for pressurizing the rocket, which is 120 PSI and the safety valve will release at 125 PSI. I hope this answers your question otherwise please provide more detail when asking your question.
Question: Do I really need the 2gl tank sprayer to properly operate this launcher
Answer: No, the 2 gal tank sprayer is not required to operate the StratoLauncher IV Ultimate, but it does make it a lot more convenient to fill the rocket while mounted on the launcher and for dragging water into the field. The Ultimate kit does come with a collapsible funnel so you can still fill the rocket without the tank sprayer. This will get you started and perhaps later on you may want to add the tank sprayer, but it is your choice.
Question: So i see this uses Gardena style nozzles. I know that standard Gardena nozzles do not fit bottles, so where can i get addtional nozzles
Answer: There a few shops online that sells them, you can also 3D print them
Question: What is the difference between the deluxe kit and ultimate kit, other than cost
Answer: Both the Deluxe and Ultimate models are exactly the same other than the Ultimate includes 4 additional parts, which can be purchased as an upgrade kit separately if you buy the Deluxe model. These 4 additional parts are a mini ball valve, a Quick Release M Plug, a Quick Release connector, and a 1/4" NPT barbed fitting. This creates the Quick Connect Water Fill System that attaches to an inexpensive 2 gallon tank sprayer, which you would need to buy from a local hardware store. Our water fill system fuels a rocket very quickly yielding about 30 launches with a 2 gallon tank and makes transporting water to the field easy without having to drag additional jugs or bottles of water along. Thank you for asking the question. If you have any more questions, we are happy to provide answers.

StratoFins Screw-on Water Rocket Fins - Compatible with 2 Liter Bottles or Smaller

Based on 273 reviews Check latest price

Product description

StratoFins will guide your rocket to lofty heights with straight flights instead of tumbling through the air. StratoFins are made of durable plastic and screw-on to a 2 liter soda bottle or smaller. These fins are compatible with 95% of all available launchers either homemade or commercially available in the marketplace including those employing a rubber stopper (4M), an expanding tube (AntiGravity), nozzle (Quest), O-ring (Aquapod), or cable ties (H2O Thruster) because it replicates the threaded portion of the bottle beyond the fins. StratoFins requires no tools or glue for assembly. The StratoFins kit includes 1 attachment ring and 3 fins along with an instruction sheet that provides information for creating a nose cone and several launching tips. Assemble StratoFins by sliding each fin down a separate slot on the attachment ring beginning from the top. With all fins in place screw the attachment ring onto a soda bottle until snug. This water rocket can be launched with or without a parachute attached since this configuration does not nose dive, but instead tumbles gently back to the ground provided the nose cone is not permanently attached. Great item for people of all ages for fun, science projects, school classes, parties, etc.

  • Compatible with 95% of all available launchers either homemade or commercially available.
  • Works with various styles: cable ties, rubber stopper, expanding tube, nozzle, or O-ring.
  • No tools or glue required for assembly, simply screw-on to a 2 liter soda bottle or smaller.
  • Take your water rocketry to the next level of higher flights with screw-on StratoFins.
  • StratoFins kit includes 1 attachment ring and 3 fins along with an instruction sheet.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this include the black quick-release adapter that screws onto the bottom of the red fin assembly
Answer: No, our StratoFins do not include the black nozzle that is used with our StratoLauncher IV models, since the StratoFins are also purchased by customers who use other launchers that do not take advantage of a nozzle system. We do sell the nozzles separately on our site: StratoFins.com for $2.50 each though. We look forward to serving you.
Question: How durable is this? I want to use it for a project but I want to know how many launches it can take. Also, does it matter which pump is used
Answer: Our StratoFins should last for 100s if not 1000s of launches provided they are used correctly. 1. No hard surface landing. It is not recommended to land on concrete, asphalt, or other hard surfaces. Often the StratoFins survive even these hard surfaces, but grassy areas are much better suited for longevity of both your soda bottle and the StratoFins. 2. Do not permanently attach the nose cone to the top of the rocket. You must use a fall away nose cone. When the StratoFins are used with a fall away nose cone per the instructions, it shouldn’t nose dive, but glide back on its side for a gentle landing since the StratoFins balance out the weight of the bottle. You can see this at the 1:58 minute mark of this video entitled StratoFins History. This can also be seen at the 1:08 min. mark of our newer StratoLauncher IV Ultimate video. We do not recommend adding additional weight to the rocket itself if used without a parachute, although additional weight like metal washers or pennies can be placed in the screw cap of the nose cone to aid in helping it fall away at apogee especially if there is any wind blowing. Links below of above referenced videos (copy and paste them in your browser address field): youtu.be/_yECW_wpNqY?t=1m58s youtu.be/uEbMKYz07ZQ?t=1m8s The StratoFins are made from durable polypropylene plastic that is stiff enough to maintain position without fluttering while under high G forces on liftoff & yet flexible enough to absorb shock on impact without breaking provided the guidelines above are followed. Permanent nose cones, added weight to the rocket, angled trajectories and hard landing surfaces may yield breakage. Weight can always be added to a fall away nose cone, which will help in directing straight flights especially when launching in winds higher than 5 mph. Also, adding weight (metal washers or pennies) to the nose cone can aid in getting it to fall away especially when used with a parachute provided wind is not blowing against it at apogee when the rocket turns. I hope the guidelines above will help improve your water rockery and fun. Kind regards, Relationshipware LLC
Question: Is the lower thread a standard garden hose thread? I was wondering if I could use my Gardena style launcher
Answer: Thank you for posting your question. The lower external and upper internal threads of our StratoFins are both compatible with the International Standard Soda bottle thread just like any 2 litter soda (PET) bottle and cap. You can use the StratoFins with your Garden style launcher, but you would have to buy our nozzle, which is threaded for soda bottles and our StratoFins. The nozzle portion will work with your Gardena hose connector style launcher. Nozzles are available on our website (StratoFins). We look forward to being of service to you.
Question: what is the internal diameter of the red threaded end of the assembly? Is it the same as the internal diameter of the threaded 2L bottle opening
Answer: This answer is coming from Dallas Murdoch, Owner of EZ-Launch LLC and a dealer for the red fins. The internal portion of the top half of the red fin assembly is threaded and screws onto the launch bottle. Its diameter is 29.6 mm. The internal diameter of the threaded opening on a two liter launch bottle is 21.0 mm. The internal diameter of the lower 1/2 of the fin assembly is 21.3 mm. The internal diameter of the pop bottle where the external threads are located is 21.1 mm. If you are using an EZ-Launch bottle rocket launcher with the red booster fins, you need to have a round white ABS plastic insert glued to the lower threaded portion of the red booster fins. This comes with the booster fins when ordered from EZ-launch.com and is necessary to lock the bottle with the fins into the EZ-Launch bottle rocket launcher. Also, The red booster fin assembly requires a separate black launch pipe in order for the bottle to maintain a steady air pressure and hold the water inside of the bottle. This also is included in the EZ-Launch bottle rocket booster kit that comes from EZ-Launch LLC.

User questions & answers

Question: How Many Times can you shoot one rocket
Answer: We're still on the first rocket. It's been about two years now! Hundreds of times if you make a strong one. We used duct tape to secure the nose, if that makes any difference.
Question: How does it lift off (pump, stomp, electricity, etc
Answer: Lifts off by stomping/jumping on one of the 2 liter bottles. No electricity needed. Fun!
Question: How long does it take to assemble
Answer: Depends on age, but not too long. Once my husband read the instructions and assembled all of the supplies, I think he "helped" our then-five-year-old put it together in 10 minutes or less. He made a few adjustments which added some time (like duct tape to hold the rubber nose on) but the initial assembly was pretty wuick.
Question: would a 13 year old enjoy this
Answer: I bought it for a 6 & 8 year old who loved it, but it's probably a little 'underwhelming' for a 13 year old. I bought a second one that uses a kit with fins used with a 2-liter bottle & air compressor.

User questions & answers

Question: I am having trouble having the launcher hold pressure. The pressure release value leaks out in under a second. Is there an adjustment on the value
Answer: No adjustment. It is supposedly calibrated to start bleeding out I think at 40 or 50 psi to prevent an overfill. I find the biggest variable is the type of bottle (due to the design of the rim). Shasta work best, and can be found at Dollar Tree. Just my experience.
Question: Is this kit approved for Science Oylmpiad
Answer: You will need to check the olympiad rules.
Question: Can smaller PETE bottles (i.e. 1-liter or less) be used with this launcher, too
Answer: I wouldn't recommend it...I only use 2 liter Coke or Diet Coke plastic bottles. The amount of water in the bottle along with the air pumped in is what makes the bottle fly. By the way...try putting a tennis ball on top of the 2 liter bottle before launching, you'll be amazed at how much higher the ball goes above the bottle! (On the first launch, fill the 2 liter bottle 1/2 full, then any launches afterwards, fill about 1/3 -1/2 for best results...)
Question: How many launches can you get out of this system
Answer: You can launch as many times as you like as long as you keep up with the little rubber "o" rings that come with the system, The "o" rings acts to seal the bottle to the system so that it can build up pressure inside to launch. The seals sometimes roll down the plastic piece it is supposed to go on and the system will start leaking air causing the think not to build pressure up to launch. But don't worry! The company must know that is a flaw and that is why they send extra "o" rings with the system if you lose one.

Question: How can we make the rocket fly better
Answer: You have to make sure the plug is tight, which will create more power.
Question: Can I hook this up to an air compressor and just send it
Answer: No ! Too much pressure! Also I ran into a problem with the tubing nozzle and the plug for the bottle. The rocket worked well the first shot but then the tubing nozzle would not hold any pressure from then on so I glued the tubing from the pump to the plug.
Question: Where can I order replacement parts
Answer: Their online page
Question: What size hose connector do I need to buy? Like many of the reviews, mine also broke on the first try
Answer: Just glue the connector to the tubing and the plug!

Employing a nozzle makes this a universal launcher for most any style water rocket and eliminates problems such as bottles not fitting over a launch tube, O-rings wearing out, or accidental launches due to falling collars. The restricted nozzle facilitates lift offs that are 3 – 6 times slower (depending on PSI) than typical water rocket launchers enabling you to see the blast off and yet the nozzle rocket will fly equal to or higher in altitude. Also, the nozzle requires only 1 cup of water per launch for optimum performance although you are free to experiment. StratoLauncher IV ships unassembled with a QR code on the box label that you can scan with your smartphone to view a PDF containing assembly instructions, launch procedures, upgrade kits, videos, and future accessories. NO additional materials are required for assembly, but you will need an adjustable wrench (or a 14mm wrench), 4 & 5mm hex wrench, & a Phillips head screwdriver. Our StratoLauncher IV will enable you to propel a 2 liter soda bottle over 350 ft. into the sky using only water and compressed air from a bicycle pump or an air compressor. Fuel (water & air) is essentially free and readily available allowing countless launches without additional expense. You control when the launch occurs by squeezing the black lever and releasing the lock at the end of the cable from a safe distance of 10 ft. and out of the splash zone. StratoLauncher IV comes in 3 models: Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate. Any of them can be upgraded to add additional features and all come with a 125 PSI safety valve to prevent exploding bottles while pressurizing.

  • Easy to assemble metal water rocket launcher with a 125 PSI safety valve. Rocket will NOT fly straight without an aerodynamic nose cone made from a second soda bottle and use only 1 cup (237 ml) of water.
  • Kit includes our Gen 4 StratoLauncher + StratoFins (screw-on water rocket fins) + fill funnel. Watch assembly video on this listing at the end of the pictures.
  • StratoLauncher IV will propel a 2 liter plastic (PET) soda pop bottle over 350 ft.

Question: What is the difference between the kits
Answer: I am not sure what the difference is but I do know one thing. My grand kids and I have had hours and hours of FUN!
Question: With this model, can you measure the psi? my son has a science project and needs to measure the psi compared to altitude of the rocket
Answer: One of the more expensive models has a pressure gauge included, but I recommend you just buy a bicycle pump with a pressure gauge built in. We bought a Bell Sports Air Glide 950 and it worked like a champ. Tested from 30 pi to 80 psi. You want the 950 for the pressure gauge and the small diameter pump cylinder for high pressure.
Question: How many nozzles come in a kit? (Not including strato fins
Answer: Only 1 nozzle comes in the kit, which can be used on the StratoFins or used without the StratoFins. The StratoFins do not come with a nozzle, since they were designed and sold to be used on most any water rocket launcher whether it uses a nozzle or not. If you need additional nozzles they can be purchased on our site (StratoFins.com).
Question: Can you use without water
Answer: Yes, our StratoLauncher IV is designed to use with various fuel sources such as: air only or air and water, as well as dry ice and water although the latter can be a little tricky and dangerous. Not recommended and messy would be things like air and flour, cream of wheat, and similar dry cereals although these do not perform that well and leave a mess behind unlike just air or water.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the kit come with an explanation to what each part filters out and why? Like an educational explanation for the child
Answer: Yes it does. We used this for a Science Fair project
Question: Which country is this made in
Answer: I don't know. I no longer have the box. The project worked out great for science when doing online school.
Question: it has materials for solar disinfection? does it have filter paper? does it have materials for charcoal sand carbon filter
Answer: It has basic materials for "solar pasteurization" not disinfection. You can only boil away micro-organisms (which incidentally is not one of the kits experiments). As for the filter paper, you only get 3 pieces. My son used this kit for his four grade science fair, and we still had to buy supplies at the hardware store, as you only get a tiny bit. If you are using this kit for home schooling or just to demonstrate a concept--it might be fine as is, but if you're are using this to do multiple demonstrations (or even explore the concept more thoroughly) a trip to the local Lowe's or Home Depot is gonna save you a lot of time in the long run.
Question: It says it is for turning salt water into drinking water. Can you use it to filter rain water
Answer: Yes. Filtering salt water is just one of the experiments. The other experiment can be applied to rain water.
