Answer:	Yes - mine was charged perhaps half-way . . . enough to test it out and run a while, but not enough for it to dock by itself for the first time to recharge. After that, it has worked fine and has run quite a long time on a full charge. I'm happy with the brushes, and the little brush cleaner, as well as the replacement filters, too.
