Answer:	I was having the same problem. You need to connect the balance leads to the white JST connector and you also need to plug the larger charging cable into the charger, then plug the connector on the other end of that cable into the connector on the battery pack that has the larger power wires. On mine they are red and back. The JST connector just monitors the balance points across the cells.

Answer:	This charger can do lithium ion. I’ve never used it for li ion batteries but there’s an option to charge those. I normally use it for lipo or NIMH and it works great if you know what settings to use.

Answer:	It can charge them. I’ve done two 7200mAh 2s and 3s and it handles them ok. Check the specs if you’re interested in how many amps it can max out on charging and discharging because it seems to adjust automatically if both batteries are set for more than it’s capable of handling (doesn’t mean it won’t work.) Just don’t expect a full 8 amps on each battery simultaneously. It will adjust the amperage. For example; you might set both batteries to charge at 8 amps but notice it’s maxing out around 5 amps per battery. The chargers I’ve seen that promise huge charging amps are usually physically bigger in size than this. Those are mostly marketed to people who might need to charge a lot of amps in as little time as possible.

So far as the alternator goes, you’re car battery should already be connected to an alternator so it should work so long as you have your car running and don’t run out of gas.
