User questions & answers
Question: | Is this the first or second edition |
Answer: | According to the Quixotic Games website it should be 2nd Edition. "Yes, Dungeon Alliance has officially released in stores worldwide, although it is currently sold out at the publisher level. The second printing will return to stores in September 2019." I KS'd my own version (i.e. the 2nd Edition) ... the box on the Amazon page has exactly the same graphics as my own box. :) Dungeon Alliance: Champions will be launching next month ... well worth the price. I've truly have been enjoying the experience. I hope they also launch the four Adventure packs soon. I own them all and it's all delightful fun and challenging. |
Question: | Does this version come with the miniatures or standees |
Answer: | Mine came with the miniatures. |

This was the age of the Dungeon Alliance.
In the days before the Void consumed much of the Old World, there were stalwart humans, elves, dwarves, and gnomes who banded together to invade the deep places of the earth. These heroes forged unbreakable alliances in search of knowledge, treasure, and glory. Rival adventuring parties would often descend into the same dungeon, and these companies fought one another as fiercely as they battled the monsters that lurked behind every dark corner. These were daring times, when nothing in the world was considered more sacred than the oath that bound those who shared the dangers of the pit together.
A deck-building, dungeon-crawling miniatures adventure game
This allows players to send 1-4 different teams of adventurers into perilous dungeons in search of experience and treasure. At the start of the game, each player drafts his or her own team of four heroes (from the 17 included in the game) and uses tactical movement and card play to overcome the dungeon's monsters and treasures. Each player starts with a unique twelve-card starting deck that includes the starting cards from all four of their heroes.

Hide Your Identity, Stay In The Fight, And Eliminate The Competition
The dungeon below the castle beckons you and the siren song of gold and riches is the reward. In Rumble in the Dungeon, twelve different adventurers will enter the catacombs, but only one will last until the end. You will get dealt two secret character identities that you'll want to keep in the dungeon as long as possible. Each turn you move one of the characters or start a battle in a room of two or more people. One character gets eliminated and arranged according to the order they left the dungeon. The longer your secret characters stay in the dungeon, the more points you will earn. After three rounds, the player that has collected the most points is the winner! If you manage to escape the dungeon with the king's treasure chest, you automatically win that round.

Inspired by a love of classic video games, Boss Monster: The Dungeon Building Card Game pits 2-4 players in a competition to build the ultimate side-scrolling dungeon. Players compete to lure and destroy hapless adventurers, racing to outbid one another to see who can build the most enticing, treasure-filled dungeon. The goal of Boss Monster is to be the first Boss to amass ten Souls, which are gained when a Hero is lured and defeated - but a player can lose if his Boss takes five Wounds from Heroes who survive his dungeon. Playing Boss Monster requires you to juggle two competing priorities: the need to lure Heroes at a faster rate than your opponents, and the need to kill those Heroes before they reach your Boss. Players can build one room per turn, each with its own damage and treasure value. More attractive rooms tend to deal less damage, so a Boss who is too greedy can become inundated with deadly Heroes. Players interact with each other by building rooms and playing Spells. Because different Heroes seek different treasure types, and rooms are built simultaneously (played face down, then revealed), this means that every "build phase" is a bidding war. Spells are instant-speed effects that can give players advantages or disrupt opponents. As a standalone card game with 150 cards, Boss Monster contains everything that 2-4 players need to play.
- For 2-4 players
- Takes around 20 minutes to play
- Dungeon building card game
User questions & answers
Question: | is this the "starter" game to buy? my daughter's boyfriend wants this for his birthday and when I looked it up there's a lot of options |
Answer: | This is the core game. As in this is all you need to play the game. |
Question: | Wasn't this $30 just last week? Did it go up |
Answer: | All about supply and demand. A few weeks ago there was ONE seller (toy wiz) with an asking price of over $100! My assumption is there was a lag between print runs. 2nd (or 3rd or...?) print run must have recently happened so, for now, it is more available and affordable again. If current stocks run out and another print run doesn't happen quickly then it could reach much higher prices again if the demand is there, especially with Christmas fast approaching. |
Question: | Is this the new revised edition or the older version |
Answer: | Since Amazon co-mingles inventory, it's possible that some of the old version might also be mixed in if the barcode is the same. You might receive either edition if you purchase this game. |
Question: | how many cards are in the game & what size card sleeves would you recommend |
Answer: | The game includes 155 cards (63mm x 88mm) and an instruction booklet.8 Boss (player) cards75 Room cards31 Spell cards25 Hero cards16 Epic Hero cardsI believe they are standard cut for traditional CCG/TCG sleeves. The different decks are labeled on the back though, so I strongly recommend clear sleeves, not those with opaque backings.Source: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/131835/boss-monster-dungeon-building-card-game |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this better than Munchkin |
Answer: | Significantly better, in my opinion. If you like games that are based a bit more on skill, and a bit less on luck, Welcome to the Dungeon is better than Munchkin. It's also better because there's no backstabbing, which is awesome! Plus it plays much faster than a game of Munchkin (at least the games I've played). Only 'downside' is that it's limited to 4 players, where Munchkin goes up to 6. |
Question: | Could an 8year old play this |
Answer: | The box says Ages 10+, but if your 8 year old plays similar games, they will probably be fine. It is not a difficult one to play. |
Question: | Welcome to... Or welcome BACK to |
Answer: | Both games play the same, just different characters in them. Welcome Back is the newer of the two, it was just released. |
Question: | What is your favorite number of players? Some video reviews suggest it's actually best with 2 players |
Answer: | I think it's a toss up between 4 and 2 as being best. |
