Answer:	Hi - thanks for the question. Yes, this is by design. As this Cash Register is designed for children of all ages we needed to make sure drawer didn't shoot out too hard and cause injury. Also, if the drawer is on a stronger spring it shoots the money out of the slots. So, we felt it best to have a shorter draw. I hope that helps. Thanks, Mike

Answer:	This cash register uses batteries. There is an on and an off button. The numbers will display when the on button is pressed and stay displayed until the off button is pressed. I don't know if it is left on if it auto turns off to save battery power.

Answer:	I don't have access to this because I bought it for my grandchild; however, looking online the origin is "China". So I believe this was made in China.
Question:	Do you have to have batteries to make the drawer open? Just wondering if it is possible to play with it if the batteries die
Answer:	No, you do not. I just opened this and set it up for the kids and it does not contain batteries out of the box. I was able to open the drawer (Open button) and sort the coins. It's a mechanical release and will function without batteries. You can also put coins through the coin slot without the batteries. The scale works as well without batteries. Everything else this item does requires them.
Question:	After scanning and getting a total, will it let you enter the amount paid and how much change to give the customer
Answer:	Sorry, I have no idea it was a Christmas present for my great grandson and he lives out of state. I know he loves it because his mom told me that. I doubt if it will do what you asked. I saw him play with it at Christmas. He is only three.
Question:	What play food do you use with this so that it scans
Answer:	Almost any regular size, plastic play fruit and veggies will scan across the scan wheel.
