Answer:	Yes, it works. But sometimes the bullets don't come out. So you have to take them out and put them back in or try shooting again. My four year neighbor loves it.

Answer:	It doesn't shoot far at all. That can be a good thing or bad. I let my 2 year old play with it without the bullets, and I don't worry about him accidentally shooting it at himself or someone else if he happens to find a bullet laying around and loads it. It is pretty weak and shoots a couple yards only. It is super fun to play with though, even for adults. Not for the shooting really, but for the loading and cocking, and for the realistic shape.

If it shot as fast as a nerf gun, the bullets would be too dangerous for kids I think. Perhaps modifying the spring in it would give it some more power though.

Answer:	I used this for a Halloween costume. It is very realistic looking and is about the size of a normal 9mm handgun. If you are getting it for a child I would add some extra color to it to make it obvious it is not real.
