Answer:	I bought this item a couple of years ago for my then 4 year old, he is still using it. But his brother, who was 10 at the time and used it! I would say it would work will for him.

Answer:	Really easy to disable. You can pull both of them out with a needle-nose pliers. No need to pull the entire bulb out, just the squeaker piece that makes the noise. Just be careful not to pinch or pull the foam.

Answer:	Yes, it's a sturdy little drawing pad. My 3 year old grandson has banged and abused it thoroughly without any issues, the lock function works great.
