The BestAir in particular even states do not use in ultrasonic humidifiers. Ultrasonic Humidifiers, (such as this one) which has no filter, expel both the water and the chemical solution into the air, which can cause some severe respiratory problems. When I clean ( once a week) I put a table spoon of bleach in the full tank, shake it around and let it sit for 20 minutes. I do not put the tank on the base. Then I rinse thoroughly until the bleach smell is completely gone. I then use about half water half white vinegar, put in the base (unplugged) and let it sit for about an hour, shaking the tank every 20 minutes or so. Then I empty it all out, rinse until you cant smell vinegar and let it completely air dry out upside down on my dish mat. Also, I do not continuously let it sit with standing water, as that's how bacteria breeds. I fill it as night, and empty in the morning. |
