Answer:	I had this product for a year and a half, and I loved it. When the batteries died I unscrewed the bottom plate and felt the silicone give way. I replaced the batteries and bottom plate. But water is now able to get in... so it corrodes the batteries. So I bought a new one. It is very worth it to just buy a new one.

Answer:	I think so. I remember just watching the temperature as it passed from one to the other though. I think anything below 93 or so was blue, then green up until like 104 or so, then red above that. Those are from what I remember from a couple months ago though.
