Answer:	Nope! No electronics or batteries period! We prefer imaginative play toys for our kids and surprisingly, this toy and all it's different pieces get used in so many ways. We've had it for 2 years of very rough play and it has held up great.
Question:	is it age appropriate for a five year old
Answer:	I gifted this set to my grandaughter when she turned 2. She is now 5 and still plays with it with her younger sisters. It is a great toy but I would say a 5 year old may tire of it quickly.
Question:	How big is the cake
Answer:	It is about the size of a large pancake, maybe 8-9 inches. The Boys really like to put the candles on and pretend to blow them out then serve everyone a piece of "cake"! The pieces are velco on so a little effort to remove.
