Answer:	Not sure what you mean by silver wire. Silver (pure) has a melting point of 1,763°F (around 960°C) so no this soldering iron will not liquefy the silver wire, if your silver wire is a brazing blend of Copper, phosphorus and silver, then this soldering iron will liquefy the base metals just barely, but the silver will stay in what is called solidus form. You may have a 63/37 silver soldering wire, 63% tin, 37% phosphorus/silver alloy, in which case this soldering iron will work just fine... Note: you should never braze or solder with straight Ag (silver) the connection will fail sooner than later, try a 60/40 alloy for electronics and a 15 silver alloy for plumbing... Answer:	As some one who bought this iron the temp can be a bit inconsistent especially while using. You can set it sure but its not accurate and i find myself putting the temp up and down trying to control it. If your are consistently using it than the temp will be low but if it just sits there it gets a bit to hot. As far as stained glass it would seem to me that you would want something a bit bigger as this model is more for electronic and small delicate work. On that note i do not do stained glass so that is just my opinion.

Question:	how do you get the heat gun to work i have now bought two of them and neither one of the heat pumps work. am i missing somthing
Answer:	There's the power switch in the back that must be on - and there's also a power switch on the front, just for the hot air gun. In order for it to turn on the hot air gun must be properly inserted in the holder: It will not turn on until after this is done - and this is common among almost all of these hot-air blowers and it is mentioned in the manual. This feature is apparently to prevent one from turning on the unit with the hot air gun, say, laying on a desk, where it would produce enough heat to set fire/melt almost anything near it: By requiring it to be placed in the holder before it turns on is a very important safety feature. I've found the magnetic sensor in the wand to be a bit finicky relative to the position it must be in to be triggered. In short: Make sure wand is resting in its original holder; Turn on rear power switch; Turn on front switch for hot air gun - but it will not activate unless it is first set in its cradle. Lifting it out, the blower should start up at which point one sets the temperature. If you are using a different holder - or you are putting it in the holder incorrectly - you'll never trigger the sensor and the blower/heater will never turn on. (The picture on the Amazon page shows the wand back-to-front - probably for photographic purposes.)

Answer:	It should. Just about as well as any other. Since gold is an excellent conductor, you should have no problem. I don't recommend using acid core solder, however. Please note that rosin core solder (which is what I recommend) may not be strong enough for your application. Sorry, I don't work with jewelry.
