Answer:	LA City Fire Dept. Captain and others there. liked the box, showed it to LAFD before mounting it for them. As box is solid steel construction (I'd say 16 0r 18 Ga.) the fire rating would be very high. I do not recall seeing any UL or other agency approval markings.

Answer:	Yes. There is a micro switch that can be wired either normally open or normally closed. It uses spade type terminal connectors. When the cover is opened, it activates the switch. The only problem I had is that a Knox padlock has a 7/16" diameter shackle but the hole in the box is only 3/8" so I had to drill it out to 1/2".

Answer:	Hello, the cable, when fully open, is 3.75" long. When locked, the space between the loop and the lock is just over 1.5". Honestly, though, this lock is not my favorite. It does appear very sturdy but I have not actually used it yet. My 'beef' is with the locking mechanism itself. It's kind of difficult to get the hang of to open; even though I've entered my own combination I swear it's still locked until, magically, it opens after fiddling with it and just about getting frustrated. Answer:	The exact size the cable will pass through is 9/64 or 3.57mm. this has been checked with a drill gauge. It will NOT fit through a 1/8" hole

Answer:	I find the cables to be much easier than the rigid locks because you don't have to jiggle the whole lock around to find that magic angle that will allow it to pass through the things you are trying to lock. All in all the cable adds a few more degrees of usefulness to the traditional rigid lock style.

Answer:	Nope, you can use any size spindle with this. Basically you're giving the spindle it's own wall to push against, so the size won't matter any more than it would matter what size the wall is 😁

Answer:	I don’t fully understand the question. If you wanted it for a pile of some sorts I suppose it would work. It’s a very simple item. Has a rubber backing to grip but not mark the wall or surface. Is 4” and has a round recess to accommodate different brands of pressure style gates. I believe it had a hole through that you could put a screw through to secure the item for other uses or hold on wall. I personally didn’t because the pressure of gate held against wall with no sliding. I hope this helps.

Answer:	1. What is the difference between a "waterproof" safe and one that is not?2. I would concur with the distinction between a "submerged" and a "rain/sprinkler" level of "waterproofing." Does someone have an "official" source that says that?3. Can I increase the level of "waterproofing" by adding some sort of a seal to the rim of the closure? I'm thinking thin weather stripping or some thin heat-resistant silicone that does NOT interfere with closing the safe.

Answer:	No. The key has to be inserted to lock or unlock the safe. BTW, on this newer version, the key has to be inserted and pushed in to lock or unlock.

Answer:	Nope. It has two keys. Anyway the lock doesn't seem like a solid one, so even if you lose the keys I think you can forcibly open it. It is designed to secure your stuffs against the fire not from thieves.

Answer:	Not sure what "horrible" looks like but it's whitish in color and if you clean them in the dishwasher, it could be calcium residue which is easy to clean with Lime-a-way. I always hand wash mine and do not have any issues. If you are cooking with gas it could be the flame is too big for the pan. Dawn is a great cleaner for grease. Good luck.
